Our aggressive Imperial Red Ale is a massive mix of smooth malts and West Coast hops that have no patience for the lupulin leery. This crimson beer starts with caramel-like malt flavor that canít suppress the assertive, citrusy hop finale.

Bottle from the Folsom BevMo. Pours dark ruddy copper with a slight beige head. Aroma is malty with a touch of citrus. Med body. Flavor is malty with a heavy dose of citrus/resin hop. Maybe even something earthy in here. Itís tending towards a dry finish, but the malt is strong. Drinks very nicely.

Tap @ Black Bottle. Pours a fairly clear dark reddish orange appearance with a tan head. Somewhat piney, a bit dank, slightly floral hoppy, caramel, citrusy aroma. Somewhat strong and a bit boozy, burnt caramel malty, earthy, spicy hoppy flavor that finishes a bit goopy and slightly strong. OK.

355mL 2013 mix pack purple label. Clear deep red with enormous tan foam. Perfect lacing. Nose is piney, resinous, fresh melon and thyme. Taste is rich and silky, mild chocolate and oil. Heavy pine needle and forest like SN Celebration. Softer mouthfeel but just as aggressive IBU wise. Celebration fans will rejoice ounce more. Paired with Thai food.

Bottle. Dark red amber body, clear with short tan head. Fruitcake, maraschino cherry-almond bread, pine, juicy ripe oranges, pressure-treated lumber and brown malts. Pumpernickel bread shows up in the finish. Brutal bitterness, medium-high sweetness, somewhat savory, decent malt firmness. Itís seemingly dry even though I can tell on the approach that itís sweet. Sweet but not too sweet, and the hop acids cut the sugar well. With the silty / minerally Sierra Nevada yeast and strong pine resin character it seems like a different iteration of Celebration, which was one of the original American Red IPAs. So itís got that going for it.
