COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This imperial red ale takes the intense hop profile found in traditional double ipa and turns up the malt. It has big aromatic hop notes of grapefruit, peach, and melon--balanced by a smooth and surprisingly robust malt body.

bottle. beer camp box. season 2. clear garnet under a very large, creamy, beige head. mix of citrus, toast aroma. flavors are bold. lots of citrus hops, big array of malts, some caramel in the finish. a bit of booze. full body. lingering bitter finish with black tea. hint of spicy rye maybe. a bit astringent. not bad, but i have this idea engrained in my head of how i like reds and this just isn’t it. (high abv imperial reds that i enjoyed much more: red rocket, long trail centennial, st. gleason)

Bottle, thanks to TheBeerGod. This is a big, beefy pour -- super dark maroon with a thin but gluey head. The aroma isn’t very pronounced but hints at a little caramel. The beer drinks with a firm, gooey base, soupy even. The favors are caramel and metallic, with a bit of fruity flourish rolled within. (#4741, 8/23/2012)

12oz bottle–pours copper with a retaining thin light tan head. Aroma is medium malt-caramel, pine. Taste is biting pine hops, medium malt-caramel/peat. Better cool/cold.

Pours deep brown-red with a frothy off-white head. Aroma is grapefruit, malt. Taste is florally hoppy.....grapefruit, caramel. A little alcohol warmth. Very nicely balanced beer. Quite good.

Rich deep red pour with a frothy white head with hints of pink. Malt forward with caramel and hints of rye, coupled with some pink grapefruit, lemon, and a bit of maple syrup. Not super hoppy, but definitely a nicely balanced beer with a pleasant dry finish. Pretty nice.

Reddish amber, one finger head, frothy spitty-scattered lacing.Pretty clear. Malty, hoppy nose, light roast, kinda bready sweet, mixed hop aroma kinda fruit-floral light pine almost juniper/mild earthly /pepper/fresh dirt. Pretty subtle aroma but pungent and somewhat complex. Very creamy mouthfeel, big bready and toast, hoppy mild complex hop flavor, but finishes with more pine and some roast.Citrus also in finish. Besides the bigger abv,its my kind of hoppy red ale.Good smooth but robust bittering.

Bought a mix-12 "Beer Camp" pack of this from Payless Liquors in Fisher, IN for $14.99. Poured one of the 12 FL. OZ. bottles w/ a Dark Maroon Label and a Wooden Brew Kettle in a forest into a 16oz Pint Glass. Has 2178206:38 on the front of the bottle neck. Aroma- Tons of mixed fruits in the aroma. Citrus and much more. Malt pops up big as well. Appearance- Pours a .5 finger head that has average retention. Has a dark amber/copper body with almost no clarity. Leaves thick lacing behind. Flavor- Malty, bit of caramel, and a mix up of fruits are all present in this complexed brew. Light-Medium hop bitterness. Mouthfeel- Medium-Full Bodied, Medium Carbonation, Sweet, and finishes with tons of hop. Finally the hops come into play! Very spicy and strong. Overall Impression- My 3rd from the "Beer Camp" Series and was above average. Not sure why the hops couldn’t have came up sooner in the taste! Very enjoyable though and will be popping another one of these. Glad there are 3 of each to the pack!

Cask @ GBBF ’12. The pour’s deep brown with a frothy off-white head. The nose is skunky marijuana, some wood, splashes of cherry and sweet malts. The taste is sticky pine, strong hops, dank. Some orchard fruits. A bit herbal. Woody, dry finish. Medium body, definitely a sipper. Slightly boozy. Overall, quite tasty but not balanced enough to enjoy repeatedly.

Cask at GBBF 2012. It pours hazy deep mahogany, with a small off-white head. The wood, leather, dark fruit, leaf and toffee. The taste dark red fruit, melon, wood, leaf, brown sugar, toffee and alcohol warmth, with a pretty bitter finish. Medium body, soft carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Smooth and flavoursome.

A - Pours an almost clear ruby red color with a finger of frothy off-white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some lacing. S - Aroma is a mix of sweet caramel malts with some grapefruit and, tropical, citrus, and lightly piney hops. T - Starts off with a mix of sweet caramel malts with grapefruit, tropical, and citrus hops with some bitterness. Through the middle, some pine and grassy hops come through with some more bitterness and some lightly bready malts. The finish is a mix of caramel malts with grapefruit and pine hops and some bitterness. M - Medium-plus bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet and bitter finish. D - Very drinkable. Nicely balanced hoppy Imperial Red Ale. Good hop profile and bitterness throughout.
