This IPA sacrifices nothing for its drinkability, flexing big time flavor and complexity. The light color disguises the depth of the malt backbone, a pillar that balances the potent whole-cones of the piney-citrus Cascade and tropical fruit-like Citra hops.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a clear copper color. The head is very fluffy, and about two fingers high, with an offwhite shade. Itís pretty rocky in texture, and fades down to a slender film relatively quickly. Plenty of ringed lacing is left down the glass. S: In the proper Sierra Nevada tradition, there is a dominant presence of bitter grapefruit and pine notes from Cascade hops. Thereís also a minor caramel malt note to balance things out. Iím a little disappointed in the fact that I donít really pick up any Citra (melon, mango) hop notes, though. Having said all of that, itís really not a bad aroma at all - actually, itís a pretty damn good aroma. T: I have no actual complaints about the flavor profile itself: slight opening malt is quickly cast aside by a decent herbal, piny hop quality, with plenty of (welcome) bitterness to boot. After the mild palate shock, touches of caramel and toffee appear. At first, I was let down by the lack of Citra presence, but lo and behold, a twinge of melon flavor pops up after a while. My biggest problem isnít the quality - thatís fine and dandy - itís the fact that there isnít much difference between this and Torpedo. M: This is where the brew pulls away from Torpedo - if only slightly. It seems to be a bit crisper and cleaner, with only a hint of residual sweetness to quash some of the bitter qualities. Iíd even suggest itís a touch less coarse. Great drinkability for nearly 7%. O: I get a real sense of de ja vu drinking this - put Torpedoís label on it and I wouldnít bat an eyelash. I really wish that SN would have differentiated the two brews a bit more, but other than that, this is a fine IPA. Much like Torpedo, really.

(Bottle) Hazy pale amber colour with frothy, beige head, leaving traces of lacing. Fruity, hoppy nose with citrus, apricots, passion-fruit, orange peel, honey and fresh floral hops. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of citrus, tropical fruit, apricots, passion-fruit, orange peel, honey and fresh floral/citric hops in a finish with a generous bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and well made with lots of fresh hops. Nice one.

Pours a hazy, dark golden orange with tangerine colored edges and a two finger frothy white head that slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Rings and streaks of soapy lacing left behind. Floral hop aroma with dank, resinous oils, citrus fruit and sweet malts. Strong earthy, grassy pine character along with juicy buds and spruce tip countered by grapefruit and orange peel sweetness. The malt backbone is stronger than expected with hints of caramel and biscuit but doesnít interfere with the dominant hop presence. Full bodied with a strong dry, bitter hop presence that lingers over the sweeter notes and malt backbone into a slightly dry finish. Some grassy, earthy pine needle flavor but itís not too dry or overly sticky. Decent amount of bitterness but not overpowering with sweet tropical/citrus fruit and pale malt notes balancing things out. Hints of grapefruit, pineapple and orange zest followed by caramel, toffee, biscuit, cracker and a touch of dark fruit in the finish. Not the most extreme IPA but this beer is very well balanced and extremely drinkable. The ABV is well masked without the slightest trace of heat. Pretty damn sessionable for nearly 7%.

On tap at Burger Up in Nashville. Orange pour with minimal head. Stiff hop aroma. Body is substantial enough to support it, but this is hop centric. Solid ipa bitterness, but surprisingly gulpable.

355 ml bottle. Clear golden body with a few floaters and a medium sized white head. Quite nice aroma with citric fruit and a nice malty balance. Flavor is sweet malt, citric fruity and balanced bitterness. Did not find much of the piney stuff here, probably a bit too old? Nothing extra special going on here, but itís a fine hop, malt balanced IPA anyway. Nice body and OK aftertaste.

An slightly orange beer with a medium and blond head. Aroma has strong caramel malts, peaches and some other tropical nuancees, pine needles. Taste is strongly bitter, piney and resin, caramel malts, some citrusfruits. Medium+ bodied, smooth carbonation. The strong bitterness is dominating and only hint of aromas are noticed. Good anyway.

Aroma: honey, resin, floral hops. Appearance: hazy amber, medium, frothy, white head. Taste: medium bitter. Palate: resin, pine, grass - all comes up in the intensifying bitters, relatively short finish. Overall: nice IPA, bit on the bitter side for my taste. Bottle from The Bottle Shop, Bermondsey.

355 ml bottle.
Pours golden color with a large white head. Piney and resinous aroma, citric hops and fruits with fair amount of malts. Caramel malts and resinous hops on the flavor, orange and faint gooseberries too. Quite crisp, almost harsh bitterness. Nice fruitiness but the amount of mats donít really work for me here, decent anyway.
