Pours into pint glass a deep golden yellow witih half-finger thick foamy cloud-white head, some bubbles Grassiness, slight toasted malted barley ,little to no hops present. Has a typical but good lager aroma. Actually good aroma for a lager style. Nice mouthwash of lager-type maltiness, some nuttiness, faint fruits and a good but faint trace of hops in the background.Carbonation is at the above-medium gassy/burpy level, but not overdone.Lightly medium body, average for a beer of this style. Very good, light yet still has some good palate without being too sweet.

With all the monstrous Sierra Nevada beers on tap at Aces & Ales, this one stands out like a sour thumb, so I’m trying to be as objective as possible. Very little aroma, but orange in color. This is very malty, esp. compared to everything else tonight. Pretty good, but not on this big-beer evening.

Best of Beer Camp bottle from 4/1/11, 24 days ago. Pours a bright amber gold with a thick head of white foam. Good lacing The aroma is grassy and bready. This is strong, rich pilsner territory. It’s close to being over the top and I’d really prefer a lighter, cleaner aroma, but the beer has a certain charm. The flavor starts with some malt sweetness which fades into yeasty notes and gentle grassy bitterness. This is more malt forward than a pilsner but it definitely leans that direction. There’s a touch of citrus on the palate. Not bad, but I’m not a big fan of the relatively heavy steam beer notes. Round and full on the palate. A touch oily in the finish. Good aftertaste. Little booze. Interesting beer.

On tap at The Red in Santa Cruz. Pours clear gold with a big, creamy white head. Fresh bread on the nose, light floral hops. Flavor is primarily bread, with light caramel and a nice earthiness. Very low in hoppiness, maybe just a little citrus, and a little grass and a little bitterness. Good but not great. This is no fresh Anchor Steam.

tap. Pours with a light color. Aromas of grass and some hops. Fairly solid body, nice hoppy flavors, much more robust than some other examples of this style. Agree with a previous review that this can be described as a stronger Pilsner.
