2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured a nice golden yellow. Aroma immediate of fresh hops, grass, and corn. Flavour is similar, easily drinkable. Personally, I prefer the original common. Decent enough tho, but not spectacular.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Bevmo: Poured with minimal amount of head while the liquid was a sparkling gold. Not a lot of aroma to be smelled in this ale other than some light scents of perfume and fruity hops, but perhaps a pinch of grained barley malt too. The flavor is simple with a sweet base of grain like malts and some dried fruit in the faint background. Other than that this is a plain and bland beer, but its still easily quaffable.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Drank 6/4/2011. Pours a golden clear color with a low but dense white head. Lots of carbonation. Aroma has a grainy, light fruity ester presence with a light grassy hops and some late flowery notes. Flavor starts off grainy with some light toasted malt presence moves into a mild sweetness from the fruity notes. Hops present a very light lemon but adds a distinct grassy flavor. Body was of modest density with a slight dryness at the end and a very bubbly texture. Overall a pretty tasty brew. LIght overall feel makes it perfect for the warm summer months. I love the light/mild toasted kick of the beers. Looks like a lawn mower beer but with a ton of flavor.

11th June 2011
Clear amber beer, small white head. Slightly crisp palate, dry. Sweetish malt, a little spice. Trace of cream. Light finish. Got a vaguely Belgian feel to it but not quite joined up.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
2011 12oz bottle served in pint glass and rated in June 2011.
Pours a clear amber with a durable and dense bone head. Plenty of visible carbonation. Aroma of a relatively strong Pils; hops with a touch of sweet malt. Higher ABV all too evident after warming. Some sweetness initially, but bitter in the end. Finishes mildly bitter and sour with hoppy aftertaste. Medium-high carbonation; crisp with a semi-dry finish
O - Decent, mildly hoppy beer, and rather refreshing. Slightly bolder but not as good as Anchor Steam. Changes complexion with warming.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
August 12th, 2011 - Now called the Beer Camp Nuthiní in Common, then called the California Common, this brew comes from the experimental wing of the Sierra Nevada Brewery (which I dearly hope looks like Qís laboratory). The commercial description reads like a brewerís notes, not a marketerís draft, so itís hard for the novice home brewer like me to get a grasp on what this beer is intended to be or do. But I guess thatís what my senses are for! Nice, golden and dark, like expertly fried tempura, this beer practically shimmers with flavor, bolstered by bubbly trunks of carbonation. The aroma suggests that the California Commons wasnít brewed to wow drinkers with a menu of flavors, but demonstrate martial arts-like balance - mild acidity, mild bitterness, good body, light maltiness in the flavor with the accompanying sweetness, and a refreshing summer style edge. The aroma exhibits small puffs of white grape juice and a heavy graininess, and even a little jasmine which makes this beer something special.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours dark straw and chill hazy with off-white head. Nose is pale malt, honey, crisp hops, mild fruit. Overall a maibocky nose. Tastes pale malty, semi-sweet and a bit syrupy, with solid hops. Finished rich and complex. Very good.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
The appearance is transparent and golden hued, with a steady ascension of bubbles emanating from the depths of the pint glass. A quarter inch or so of white head floats on top and leaves some random lacing on the glass.
The aroma is of malt and grain, and smells akin to a pilsner.
The flavor brings grain and a light bitterness. Simple but effective.
The body is thin to medium, with appropriate carbonation. Alcohol content is masked well, and this beer is pretty easy to drink and joy.
Overall, a nice simple beer, and only the second example of the style I have enjoyed. I would have it again.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
First rating of a California Common. 12 ounce bottle originally purchased a year ago as part of the Beer Camp 12-pack ($17.99 for the twelver). Pours a clear-ish yellow/straw hue with one finger of off-white head which soon dissipates. Aroma of honey-sweetened tea, mellow citrus, peach, and floral hops. Flavor of caramel, honey, zesty citrus, and herb-y hops. Actually finishes a bitter more on the bitter side than the sweet side. Smooth and very quaffable on a hot day like today. (332, 718)
