3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours mostly black in color with some light coming through a shot glass full with a head that seems like it will stay forever. Aromas of burnt roasted malts, cocoa, licorice, floral hops, and bread. Flavors of big roasted almost burnt malts, wood, slight licorice, coffee, caramel and undertones of the sprucey grassy hops. Silky almost milky texture from the proteins, medium sweet, leaving a roasted malt aftertaste a bitter sting. The alcohol is noticed only slightly through the nose. Well done.

Bottle - very small foamy head, black color, roasted malt and coffe aroma and flavor, smooth and silky finish from the oats - very good for what it is, just not a big stout fan

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Great very drinkable oatmeal stout. More sweet than the classic and more bitter St. Ambroise that is always available locally. Pours supremely dark brown with initially ridiculous head. Smooth mouthfeel, lots of good malt, a little sugar, perfect and understated roasting.

Sampled on tap at Elizabeth Station, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of oats and chocolate malt - very inviting. Flavour of chocolate malts, oats and a mild sweetness. Full-bodied and chocolatey. ABV is no where to be detected - drinks like a 5% oatmeal stout. Delicious stuff.

Smells of oats and a bit of chocolate with a somewhat sweet aroma that accompanies it too. Pours a nice dark pour with a brownish head. Really enjoyed this beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12-oz. bottle into a pint glass at my house on Aug. 18, 2012 (picked it up in the 2012 Beer Camp 12-pack for $19.99 at La Mesa BevMo on Aug. 18, 2012). Poured a black with khaki, tan head. Average-to-below average retention.
Smelled coffee, coffee beans, dark chocolate, toffee, oats and roasty malts.
Tasted pretty close to the smell. Got coffee, coffee beans, roasty malts, dark chocolate, toffee and oats. Pretty malty.
Full body. Creamy, slick texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish. The best part of this beer. Very appealing.
Like the Floral IPA, this beer really grew on me. Would definitely have it again.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bought a mix-12 "Beer Camp" pack of this from Payless Liquors in Fisher, IN for $14.99. Poured one of the 12 FL. OZ. bottles w/ a Dark Brown Label and a Wooden Brew Kettle in a forest into a 16oz Pint Glass. Has 2172209:06 on the front of the bottle neck.
Aroma- Light roast, tons of malt, and medium alcohol present. Bit of molasses too!
Appearance- Pours a less than .5 finger head that dies quick. No problem of this style. Pours a thick, deep brown body with tons of viscosity. Leaves dark suds behind.
Flavor- Tons of roast and a bit of espresso. Sweet when it comes down to it and finishes with a light-medium bitterness.
Mouthfeel- Full Bodied, Light Carbonation, Viscous, Espresso smooth, Closest thing to an Iced Caramel Latte, and then a great roasty finish with some oatmeal. Perfect!
Overall impression- My favorite without a doubt in this "Beer Camp" series! Such a great stout too for Sierra Nevada. Would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a strong stout with tons of complexity. Did not expect this one from this brewery.

Botte. Pours black with a nice brown head and great lacing throughout. Aroma is creamy mocha, sweet oats, chocolate. Taste is rich milk chocolate, more mocha, roast but very mellow. This is a nice sipper and actually the first dark beer that my hop loving dad really liked. I love oatmeal stout as the teexture is creamy. Could have been 6% and I would have been none the wiser. Nice.
