COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This big oatmeal stout is midnight black in color--with a big roasty, mocha-like aroma. It has a silky body from the use of rolled oats, and a round and lasting finish. Perfect as an after dinner treat.

Bottle from Tomlinsons, Inverness [13013]
Jet black, dark tan frothy head that dissipates to a thin head, some lacing
Aroma of deep dark malts, chocolate, touch of coffee, not a massive aroma
Taste of rich dark malts, deep dark soft chocolate, touch of coffee, alcohol is a bit noticeable but it’s dangerously easy to drink, some molten chocolate cake, very well balanced
Palate - Soft to medium carb, got a fork in the to get rid of a bit of the fizz, now a rich almost full body, very smooth malts. Finish as main flavour, nice waxy smoothness from the oats, dark chocolate cake
Overall - A really well made smooth chocolately impy stout. It’s not a complex impy but it’s so drinkable. They are spot on describing it as a ’pudding’ beer.

Bottle. Black pour with tan head. Smells of dark chocolate and sweetness from the oatmeal. Almost smells like a milk stout. Tastes sweet at first and then a dark chocolate bitterness. Good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours very dark with brown head that fades quickly and good lacing. Aroma is roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is sweet roast and bitter chocolate. Quite bitter chocolate actually, pretty sharp and it steals some of the smoothness. The aftertaste is dark chocolate and light coffee roast. Palate is thick and smooth.

Bottle. Nose is mildly sweet with inky chocolate and roast, wafting hints of alcohol, pours deep brown-black with a scant light brown head that’s soon gone. Silken, creamy body full of roast and lightly burning alcohol, plenty of velveteen chocolate, inky with faint plum, beautiful throat and chest warmth spreading from the full body. Light but noticeable hops even after some months, pleasant prickling, but man, it’s all about that oaty-chocolate with hints of smooth roast, just a superb dessert beer. Or one for contemplation.

liquid silk. Roasty chocolate mocha yumminess. The %9 caught me off guardbecause this drinks as smooth as a %5. Funny they call the pilsener imperial in this twelve pack tthat’s like %5 but not the %9 oatmeal stout

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of double-chocolate milkshake is quite intense and very enjoyable. Taste is dominated by chocolate milkshake notes with light dry roasted malt notes also noticeable. Some light dark chocolate and mocha notes are also perceptible. Body is full with nice chewy creamy texture with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very well brewed and quite a treat that I wouldn’t mind having on a regular basis.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wine; almost black pour with quickly disappearing tan head, chocolate and oat aroma, sweet roast malt taste with chocolate, molasses, great thick mouthfeel. This is really good.

12oz 2012 bottle served at ~55F in a Unibroue goblet. Pours darker than used motor oil with only faint hints of brown near the edges under intense light. Moderate, dense tan head soon reduces to a durable ring and thin top coat, but leaves nice lace on the glass upon tilting S: Dark roasted malts with hints of smoke, oatmeal and black licorice. Slightly fruity with some spicy hops. Some alcohol esters after warming; plenty after more warming. T: Appropriately rich dark roast grain flavors, with a light smokiness. Alcohol is partially hidden. Hops add spicing and a well-tuned level of bitterness. Some coffee in the mildly bitter, and long-lasting, robust aftertaste. M: Full body with low but adequate carbonation. Very smooth. Some light harshness and warming from the alcohol. O: Relatively subtle aroma but the flavor is plenty rich, with fine roasted grain flavors should appeal to beer geeks who enjoy dark breads.
