Had in Cellar for a while and thought time to open this up
Jet black color, rocky light brown color head. Good retention to the head, and some decent ABV legs.
Nose has some lactose, rolled oats, roasted grain, and touches of vanilla. Thought it was root beer at first.
Odd taste that does not work really. Flashes of cardboard, rolled oats, roasted grain, coffee, some pine bitterness, and maple syrup. Waves of booze do come through in this. Really unbalanced.
A little too slick and oily really. Probably was too hoppy to start. Needs more oatmeal character. Not real good

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
2012, drunk in 2012
Dark brown on black with a persistent sheet of mocha foam. Smells of coffee and oats, but also a smell of chocolate and a hint of some poops I’ve taken - okay. Maybe also a hint of licorice. Flavor is mealy and oaty. Some nutty character and a decent amount of hop bitterness. Full bodied with hi carb and a dry, too dry finish. I’m not impressed, which is weird, as these beers usually d the trick for me (the Beer Camp beers that is).

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown with ruby lowlights and a creamy brown slowly fading head. Aroma of roosted malt, coffee, oatmeal, salt and soy sauce. Taste of chocolate, soy sauce, oatmeal and dark roasted malts. Silky and sweet with a zippy finish that packs a bit of heat.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle thanks to DrSilverworm!!! pours black with rich brown head. Nose is milk chocolate with a tiny bit of roast. Sip adds toffee, coffee and what I guess is oatmeal. Boozy afterbite with a big body. Almost dry. When I saw ""oatmeal stout" on the label I was expecting a 4.5-5% ABV beer and so I got a English pint glass, but to my surprise this in an imperial. Not overpowering for an impy stout, but still quite tasty. all kinds of bitter, but fairly balanced.

I’m currently rating every SN brew I’ve ever had in one clean sweep.
I grew up on the classic SN Pale having it around during high school, and since have watched SN grow into a national representation of incredible craft beer. Living 45 mins away is a treat for the random growler fill. Keep up the amazing work and thanks!

35,5 cl bottle vintage 2012 @ RIP camp. #45, BBE 2172204
Aroma is a bit odd with oaty notes, some wallpaper paste, roastiness and cocoa. Flavour has milk chocolate, some lactic acid notes, sugar, cocoa and hints of metal. Decent, although I find the milky notes not so nice here.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
355 ml bottle @ RIP camp.
Pours a pitch black colour with a beige thick head. Aroma of roasted malts, oatmeal cookies, milk chocolate and some syrup. Rich flavour of roasted malts, oatmeal cookies, lactose, grassy bitterness and unfortunately some metallic notes. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel and really soft carbonation. Finishes slightly dry, malty and tart (probably from the lactose). Weird, but works on some level.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
355ml bottle from Ales by Mail @ RIP Camp
Bottled June 21, 2012 -
Pours pitch black with a large brown head. Aroma of roastiness, cream cracker, sweet oat, hints of ash and dark chocolate. Taste is roasty, sweetish and syrupy with notes of dark chocolate, cream cracker and biscuit. Finish is dry, roasty, biscuity and chocolatey with hints of syrup and oat. A bit untypical, but quite tasty imperial stout.
