Rhymes Wit is our take on a traditional Belgian Wit or “white” style of beer named for its hazy, pale straw color. This beer has interesting aromas of spicy Belgian yeast, wheat malt, and a hint of citrus. It has a silky smooth body, slight black pepper character, and a malt graininess that fades into a mild tart finish from the use of locally grown mandarin oranges.

Appearance: light hazy yellow with a pretty white head. Fades like vigorously beat meringue while sticking to the sides in seeming desperation. Swirls with more lace and more puff.
Nose: fresh mandarin oranges; squeezed, blossoms, and essence of. Orange blossoms tickle in the back along with white flower petals. Soft Italian loaves. A blend of grains in the back, sun-kissed and dry.
Palate: clean, bright, and soft. Mandarin front middle and back. Gentle Italian breads chew with a soft full caress, leaving nary a surface untouched. Orange blossoms in the back along with soft flower petals; delicate. Exquisitely drinkable. Hint of lemon. Doesn’t over dry the palate, thankfully. The softness of the flower petals pairs perfectly with the softness of wheat and white Italian breads. Mandarin brightens.
Final Thoughts: hats off to Mark Carbone of Vine & Barley and the fine crew of gents who crafted and brewed this delicious beer in the 2009 beer camp. Goodness knows I enjoyed drinking it, a lot of it.

Growler from Vine & Barley. Pours cloudy straw color with moderate white head. Aromas of oranges, corriander and flowers. A nice blend of orange, wheat and corriander without being too overpowering like so many wit beers. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. Light, crisp and very refreshing. A great summer session beer that I could drink alot of.

on tap at papago 4/1/10 (and many times afterward!). cloudy lemonade color with a sticky soft white head. initially, this smelled sulphuric and a lot like matches... as it sits notes of lemon, lots of orange, dusty wheat, flowers, wood, earth and a little smoke appear. add some vanilla in to the aroma and you get the flavor profile... tartness on the finish. the medium body has some grittiness to it though it is slightly acidic and incredibly crisp. really easy to drink in this summer heat! 8/4/8/4/16/4.0

Tap. Moderate malt note of grain, light flowers for the hops, dough and methane for the yeast, with orange, corriander and another faint spice like clove. Head is small, creamy/frothy, white with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is a hazy, light pastel amber. Flavor starts moderately acidic and finishes lightly acidic. Palat eis on the lighter side of medium, watery and has a lively carbonation. Still not my favorite style, but definitely a tasty Belgian Witbier, I liked the mix of aromas.

Cloudy pale yellow with a smallish white head. Light oranges, lemon, yeast, wheat and spice in the aroma. Flavor is lighly sweet, lightly tart and delicious as hell. Spices, oranges, yeast, light hops all come together to create a delicious wit. Bravo!

Growler... Hazy straw-colored ale with a small, fizzy, white head. The aroma is of ghostly-pale malt, coriander, clove and mandarin orange. What a pleasant surprise that the mandarin orange really shines through. Light to medium-bodied with lively carbonation. The flavor is lightly sweet and grainy with lesser notes of coriander, lemon peel, orange peel tannins and snappy hops. Overall, very well-balanced. Finishes gently bitter with subdued acidity and spice. Very refreshing. As a rule, I don’t like wits an awful lot, but i could drink a bunch of this.

Cloudy pale yellow with a small head. Light oranges, lemon, yeast, wheat and spice in the aroma. Flavor is lighly sweet, with some tart notes and hoppy bitterness on the finish. Not bad.
