4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 cakanator (452) - South Hadley, Massachusetts, USA - OCT 20, 2010
On tap at Amherst Brewing, meet and greet Sierra event. Pours a nice golden hue, some sweeter notes in the nose. Palate is very balanced, some nice herbal qualities. I love how saisons are manipulated by the yeast strains used, this one being from Fantome. Nice clean dry finish, if this were bottled I would have bought a case anyways. Well done!

A - Pours a nice hazy golden color. A nice finder of white head on top with okay retention and some nice lacing.
S - A little bit fruity and a a bit hoppy. There is a bit of spiciness in the aroma also. Also some light bread/yeasty smell.
T - Sweet and citrus up front. The maltiness comes up next and smooths out the sweetness. This is joined by some spiciness and the finish is strong of the yeast flavor.
M - Over all very dry, but the carbonation level, which is a medium-high, balances that. The tartness is also very pleasant on the tongue.
D - There is a lot going on in the flavor of the beer, which is a bit complex, but it is all well balanced and the dryness makes for a very drinkable beer.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dickinsonbeer (5075) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - DEC 3, 2010
Tap at RNH. Pours a hazed blond with a medium white head. Aroma is initially slight dms- corn hint with some slight earthy spicy peppery hints - slight flowery lavender touch, fragrant, some crackery husky dust- light fruitiness, cobwebby, slight citrus lemon-lime thing and phenolic- kinda reminds me of Blaugies yeast? Flavor is biscuity malt, phenolic light plastic hints, slight orangey coriander peppery spice, floral, light fruits, cobwebs, dust, and medium bitter finish. Nice!

Tap at RNH tasted alongside the Versa. Hazy golden pour. A bit cloudier than the Versa - but that could just be the keg. The aroma is lighter with a more floral element in addition to the spice. It’s remarkably similar to the Versa - maybe a little bit doughier/sweeter with less obvious dryness. More yeast flavour is apparent and there is less spice. A bit fruity/estery but the base is very similar. Finishes with a little bit of light herbal minty flavour that I don’t see in the Versa. Slightly musty - it’s a bit more rustic than the other beer but these are very subtle differences.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 GuilTTy (718) - Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA - AUG 25, 2011
On tap at the Pourhouse. Pours a hazy ruby copper with a tall beige head. Spicy, citrusy aroma. Lemon zest, milk chocolate, toffee, grapefruit and herbs riding a solid malt backbone. Nicely carbonated, creamy texture and a pretty dry, fruity finish. Not exactly a straightforward saison but a nice beer nonetheless.

Tap at Rattle n Hum. Pours a cloudy golden color. Nose is spicy and yeasty. Thin front but the yeast and spice really come through in the middle and finish. Lots of dry light fruits in the finish. Very dry and pretty good take on the style.

On tap at the Gingerman when I stopped in with Joe after Paul’s tasting. Pours a clear yellow gold with a thin to medium sized white head. Soft fuzzy musk, faint citrus on the nose. Musky citrus and wheat, almost bretty actually, very crisp and light. Light musk and clean wheat on the finish. Very nice.
