2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours a slightly hazy, dark golden yellow color with subtle apricot edges and a one finger, white foam head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Streaks of soapy lacing left behind.
Surprisingly malt forward aroma with biscuit and bready yeast followed by estery light fruit notes and a very faint piney hop presence. Not much hop character in the nose for an IPA. Slightly floral but more reminiscent of a regular Belgian blonde.
Medium body with a stronger hop presence than the aroma suggests but it still feels more like a hoppy Belgian blonde/pilsner hybrid than anything else. Very dry and earthy to the point of it being unpleasant. Soil-y/dirty with pine needle and earthy grass followed by ester-y yeast notes and pilsner malt. Slight peppery spice along with some light fruit sweetness, notably apple and pear. Lingering sticky finish with an unpleasant aftertaste. The flavors of this beer don’t really mesh for me. Kind of harsh and tough to drink.

Pour on tap at Black Bottle, clear golden pour with white head, aroma brought notes of big grapefruit, orange into lots of clove, coriander with a hint of bubblegum, slight lemon into some biscuit and bready notes. Taste was a mix of clove, coriander, floral hops into some white fruit, bubblegum, slight orange, into a bit of bread, finishing bitter.

Bottle. Medium golden with a big soapy white head that laces thickly. Floral grapefruit hops run the show, sweet pale malts in good balance, long bitterness. These guys know their way around this style. Solid.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours gold with a white head. Taste sweet, fruit, with some bitterness. I thought this was good. I would drink this again.

"Not sure why blonde is in the name, as this isn’t any lighter than a score of IPAs I can think of off the top of my head. Aroma and flavor are dominated by a clove like spiciness and the hops only shine through as a herbal pleasantness. A nice beer, not a good IPA. Hmmm..."

On tap at the Torpedo Room in Berkeley. Puts orange gold with a white head. Light Belgian esters mingle with grassy hops in the aroma. Flavor is light banana pith with grains and grass and a mineral finish.

On tap at O’Briens in San Diego in 2013; backlogged rating. Light golden color and a fine pillowy head. Classic Belgian blond yeasty aroma with notes of clove, pear, grass and white grape. Mellow dry flavor with a character of hay, citrus, pear and biscuit. Finishes dry with a lasting flavor of bitter pepper. Simple and straightforward. I like.

Keg Half Pint at White Horse American Beer Festival 2013, Parsons Green, London in July 2013 - Pale Gold in colour. Very Hoppy; resinous and floral hops. Fruity; lemon citrus, banana, hint of coconut. Spicy and Yeasty. Malty; bready malts, caramel. Terrific hop bite. Lovely bitter hoppy fruity throughout. Enjoyed this. Belgian Ale meets American-style IPA. Nice beer!
