iride15 (169), Orlando, Florida, USA Mar 22, 2009 Light brown pour, tan/cream head. Heavy aroma and taste. Very hoppy, typical Sierra Nevada. Medium body, poor carbonation. I just didn’t have the taste for this one, even though it’s a decent brew. AndyReynolds (280), Wilder, Kentucky, USA Mar 21, 2009 Tried 2009 bottle. Pours a light brown with a thin white head. Aroma is stong with malts and hops, but there are hints of dark fruits and citrus. Taste is great with not much carbonation. Great lacing. Rustyham (545), miami, Florida, USA Mar 21, 2009 Taste like just about any other sierra nevada product- hoppy and malty. I thought the barmaid screwed up and gave me a 90 minute IPA, but she proved me wrong. I don’t much of reason to drink this. You’ve All been there and done that. eyesolus (64), Mill Creek, Washington, USA Mar 21, 2009 Bottle; pours light brown; thick caramel color head; a bit oxidized; hints of a flat carbonation with a warming spice; EFG3. (#56) billlmiky (15), , New York, USA Mar 21, 2009 been looking for this one all winter. found it in the bottle at the coop. really hoppy for a barleywine. Leighton (234), New York, New York, USA Mar 21, 2009 Honestly, I got a little intimidated as I poured this one into my cup. It’s strong and bold in consistency, color, odor - everything. But it was deliciously potent. Very hoppy, thick head. All kinds of flavors going on in there, very complex. Fruity, florally, earthy - people have different palettes and there will be as many interpretations of flavor as there are palettes with a beer like this. What will you taste? foundmd (163), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Mar 21, 2009 12oz bottle, 2009 release. Pours dark amber with a large, lingering, off-white head. The aroma is floral hops and citrus with some alcohol. Big flavors of hops and pine with hints of citrus and sweet caramel malts. Medium/full bodied with average carbonation. Nicely balanced and well worth the price. wilderthanyou (407), Guelph, Ontario, Canada Mar 19, 2009 2009 batch, couldn’t wait. Pours a dark brown amber colour with a off white head that dissipates very quickly. The aroma is tap water at first (strange) then citrus, resiny hops, pine. Very different from all other barley wines i’ve tried, much more hop forward. The flavour is a good reflection of the aroma with big resiny hop flavours of citrus and pine, with light sweet malty notes of manuka honey, and licorice root/anise, the finish is long and sour/bitter. All and all a very interesting and enjoyable beer.
