Vertical tasting of 2000-2012. Pours dark amber. Aroma of raisins and alcohol. Tastes of dry earth. Very nice lasting aftertaste.

Vertical tasting of 2000-2011 bottles. Pours reddish brown, becoming darker brown as the years get older. Smells like tobacco and alcohol, dry with hints of sweetness. Tastes bitter and sweet, much like the aroma. Smooth, thick feel. Medium body and low carbonation.

En bra barley wine. Kraftig aroma och smak. Mörkt koppar färgade med röda toner. Aroman aningen sötare än smaken.

Dark copper color. Yellow foam that leaves a lot of lacing on the glass.
Smell of orange marmalade, grape, soil, vanilla and fudge.
The taste is dried fruit, grapefruit peel, blood orange with a great bitterness.

Really liked this surprisingly. I usually like a barley wine to have very understated hops, but in this one I actually thought the strong hop presence was very welcome.

Bottled. Pours brown with a huge light brown head. Smells grassy hoppy, nutty malty, abit sweet. Grassy hoppy and nutty malty, clear bitter and abit sweet with a similar finish.

2013 version from bottle. Pours a clear russet with a small off-white head. Getting caramel, raisins, grass and a floral note in the nose. Despite the lack of hop characters in the nose, the taste has lots of them. There’s lots of malt at the front, but the hops then kick in with a decent bitterness and some pine resin and lemon coming through along with a bit of alcohol. Sweetish fruit - raisins, currants, plums - at the end.

Bottle. About 5 months old, still pretty fresh and hoppy.
Dark red/brown color, light beige color on the medium head, compact, small bubbles.
Really strong hoppy aroma. Citrus, resin, pine, also some caramel and bread. Very sweet taste. A lot of toffee and caramel but also a lot of citrusy bitterness in the aftertaste.
Average carbonation, maybe a little bit soft which I like. Nice full body and sticky texture.
Looking forward to open some older bottles in the future.

Poured a dark caramel amber color with 2-3 fingers of khaki tan head. Heavy filling lacing on the sides of the glass. Good retention all the way down.
Smelled smooth caramel (like a Rolo), toffee, honey, tobacco, dark cherry, plum, fig and vanilla. Nothing too overpowering.
Tasted dark fruits, mainly plum, figs and dates. Tobacco and vanilla as well. Alcohol is well hidden. Some hops but not sure which kind.
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average-to-soft carbonation. Long, smooth finish. Warming and tasty.
Just a really good barleywine. Not too strong and not too weak. Just right. One of the better ones I’ve had.
