4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2013 vintage. Pours a deep copper amber color with a two finger sticky foamy head. On the nose it subtle but complex... notes of grass, honey, fig and caramel. The palate is hot with rich bitter hops jumping on the front of the flavor profile. Grassy floral touches that burn out into a sappy piney resinous mid to late palate... its then that the sweet toffee and toasted malty notes creep in from the background balancing out the biting hops and creating a pretty harmonious finish.

4.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
12oz pour to pint glass. Three fingers of head that slowly fades with nice lacing. Nice clarity with a amber red color. Smells of sweet wood and piney notes. Malty caramel sweetness balances perfectly with the bittersweet grapefruit taste of the hops. Carbonation gives a nice slick mouthfeel with a little alcohol warmth on the backend. One of my favorites I pick up a few every few weeks with the intention of letting a couple age. Iíve yet to be successful on that endeavor. Cheers!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
12 FL OZ bottle. 022714. Pours a medium amber colour with a tall dense light tan head which lasted well and left some nice lacing. Sweet malty aroma with pine, caramel and some bread. Medium sweetness and slightly more bitterness. Chewy, medium to full body, alcohol warmth and lingering bitterness. Goes down a treat but the 9.6% abv could do some damage. 8.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle poured into a goblet. Burnt notes and wood start it off but fade quickly to reveal a bright toffee that mellows. This is followed by wood and a light pine and citrus blend which, later, includes a mild roasted nuts and light wax. The beer is a murky copper hue with a big, soft, fluffy tan head. A thick and dense soap ring is retained and a puffy, full surface and leaves a snow drift thick lace on the glass. The taste is a medium high sweet upfront and high bitter finish. The beer is thick and slick with a fuzzy carbonation and a full body. Burnt flavors come through at first with notes of toffee, nuts, and grapefruit citrus which turns to a slight fruit stripe late. The finish is spicy and pepper like with woody notes. Itís clean amd slightly astringent, with a strong waxy aftertaste of citrus rind, nuts, and wood mellows quickly but lingers

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from 12oz bottle into schooner glass.
Appearance: pours a pillowy 2" off white head that drops very slowly with abundant lacing. Color is a hazy amber with no visible streaming carbonation.
Aroma: aroma is predominately pine and citrus hops with some malt backbone.
Mouthfeel: medium to heavy, oily & resinous with a somewhat damp finish.
Flavor: sweet malts and caramel are present, but strong hops are the more dominant flavor from beginning to end. There is some definite alcohol warming which lingers after the swallow.
Overall: I expected a stronger malt presence for the style. Otherwise, a well done beer.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Smells like vanilla root beer off the bat but in a light way gives way to citrus hops, reddish appearance, hoppier than expected, finishes slightly bitter and drawn out, crisp on palate though,

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle, pours an opaque mahogany, beige head fades quickly. Comes on like an Double IPA, citrusy hops, a hint of pine, some caramel, dark malts. Lots of complexity here, a good sipper that got better as it warmed. Really good beer, nice carbonation, lots of flavor.
I have seen this before, itís really quite good.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours clear blood-red with a beautiful lasting mile-shake lace. Thick, dark cooked fruit malt backbone. This is an excellent Barley Wine beer, but does finish a little rougher compared to, say, Lagunitasís Brown Shugga. Overall, a great barley wine style.
