Gold Medal Winner, Great American Beer Festival (Ales: Brown, Bitter and Pale 1987, Barleywine 1988,1992,1995). Sierra Nevada Bigfoot is an award winning example of the English Barley Wine style. It boasts a dense, fruity bouquet; an extremely rich, intense, bittersweet palate; and a deep, reddish-brown color. This ale is superbly balanced between an almost overpowering maltiness and a wonderfully bittersweet hoppiness.

Reddish-brown pour with an off-white head. Complex aroma with a lot going on - caramel, citrus, pine. Starts with a sweet malt flavor and then finishes with a pine and grapefruit bitter. Very aggressive but easy to drink.

Great golden reddish color with rather thin head. Smells of hops! The taste is hoppy and very smooth at the same. Of course the high alcohol level shows up but remains quite discrete. Really a great beer!!!

Pours a dark oaky body with a medium head. Light hoppy aroma. Rich and complex taste with bread, burnt candy and a rough finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours deep dark brown with white/yellow foamy head. Nose is raisins, piney hops and alcohol. Taste is hoppy and sweet with hints of dried fruit. Full and malty body. Very nice american barley wine but it lacks some in complexity compared to other BWs. Maybe it will improve with age.

Bottle from Systemet. 2014 vintage. Pours a beatiful dark copper amber with a nice firm head. Heavy aroma with caramell malt and floral hops. Sweet rich palate with a delicate blend of sweet malt and rich bitter hoppiness. Excellent to a very sweet pecan pie. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tydlig beska men angenäm. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Vintage 2014. Pours a beautiful chestnut-brown with a good two fingers of off-white, fluffy head. Aroma is hoppy, hoppy, hoppy. Kind of old-world hoppiness with pine resin to the fore. Not your typical Barley Wine nose, that's for sure. Behind all the hops I get some cough drops and rosemary. With some swirling I get a slightly caramelly scent and some perfumed hand soap. Palate is medium plus bodied with mostly herbalness and strong piny hops coming through. Not as insanely bitter as I thought. There's a strong bitterness to the long finish but it's not really over powering. This is one for the cellar. The score is for todays performance, it'll probably be a lot better in about 5 years. I'll try it again then. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
