Commercial Description:
Gold Medal Winner, Great American Beer Festival (Ales: Brown, Bitter and Pale 1987, Barleywine 1988,1992,1995). Sierra Nevada Bigfoot is an award winning example of the English Barley Wine style. It boasts a dense, fruity bouquet; an extremely rich, intense, bittersweet palate; and a deep, reddish-brown color. This ale is superbly balanced between an almost overpowering maltiness and a wonderfully bittersweet hoppiness.

(2006 bottle) Pours a nice see thru amber with a big head and lots of carbonation. (I’m catching a buzz from just sipping the foam). Aroma of orange peel and cascades. First sip is a literal party on your taste buds. If you don’t like hops don’t bother cause this is a hop assault, but it also has some good malt polyrythms. This is great pleasure sipper. Probably the most eventfull beer anywhere.5------ 2008 vintage surprisingly boring and way off balanced it’s amazinghow much your palate can change. One dimensional, Apparently, more IPA less Barley malt is the goal of alot of American micro-brewers.

Bottled. Pours nicely dense brown with decent head. Strong malt aroma but also slightly sweet and hoppy. Flavor is intense; malt, dark fruit, maple syrup, bitter hop and alcohol finish that lingers for awhile. Palate is rich and thick, really nice. Definitely something to drink slowly and really good with something salty.

pours a dark mahogany with a small head. aroma of cherries, hops, raisin, and some sweet malt- very nice on the nose. Flavor is excellent- surprising amount of bitterness, but still with the sweetness character of barleywine. Palate is very nice- sticks to the tongue, but not so aggressive that it’s not drinkable. Really well crafted brew, one of sierra nevada’s better offerings.

Gonna crush with Jakebra and cellar a few. Lots goin on here. Now that is an aroma. Oooh yeah. Got some fruitiness and some awesomeness and maybe some smokiness. Flavor kicks some serious ass with a badass bitterness in the finish. Now that is a barley wine. Nice.

Bottle. Wow is this good! According to the packaging, this is the 25th "release" of Bigfoot Ale. Not sure if that means it’s 25 years old. Hoppy and sweet with big flavor and a fruity bouquet. Great with American staples like Pizza and burgers, but nothing sweet like BBQ. A great barley wine style beer (no, it’s not mead) to enjoy slowly. The beer has a deep, rich amber colour with a bitter finish.

Small foam but with almost 10 % alcohole this can be expected. Nice deep amber color. The alcohole dominating the aroma then some dried fruit. The bitterness dominates the taste eaven though the body is big.
