COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gold Medal Winner, Great American Beer Festival (Ales: Brown, Bitter and Pale 1987, Barleywine 1988,1992,1995). Sierra Nevada Bigfoot is an award winning example of the English Barley Wine style. It boasts a dense, fruity bouquet; an extremely rich, intense, bittersweet palate; and a deep, reddish-brown color. This ale is superbly balanced between an almost overpowering maltiness and a wonderfully bittersweet hoppiness.

Overrated, but still solid. Needs to be cellared when you purchase, very annoying. Lagunitas Gnarly wine is so much cheaper and you get so much more, both taste young though..

12.9.2014. Dark copper colour. Smells caramel, malts, hops, pine, resin. Full, creamy mouthfeel. Sweet malts, towards finish dryer hops and ends with strong wood, also resin. Also some alcohol. Fruity hoppy, earthy BW. Actually quite good.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Has that "SN" hop aroma. Appearance- A reddish colored brew that looks wonderful. Taste- The hops are mixed with some pine and there is a bitter aftertaste, not bad. Palate- This is a medium to heavy bodied brew with moderate carbonation. It is a dry finish beer with a nice hop bite. Overall- A good beer but it doesn’t taste like a traditional barleywine.

Old rating. 12oz bottle from Old Town. Clear reddish copper pour with thin off-white head. Grapefruit zest, apricot, prune, caramel and toffee. Thick rich with a medium body. Sweet and bitter on the palate. Well-balanced. Bit of vanilla comes out as it warms up. Warming finish with nice lingering bitterness. Great stuff!

Bottle 33cl, 2014. Red-Brown drink with a high cream-colored foam that quickly disappears, but leaves its mark on the glass. Scent of syrup, toffee, nuts and bread. Pleasant taste of nuts and raisins with hints of vanilla. Clear bitterness emerges at the end.

Right so i am doing the world top 25 beers and delighted to get another one off the list. Aroma is fruity and malty. The head is good and the colour rich. I raise the glass to my mouth and take a big gulb to savour the taste and its like drinking a bottle of channel 5 perfume. It is rank. They say you cant judge a book by its cover but unless this bottle was a perfume shop catalogue you couldn’t guess this taste.

12oz bottle, fresh, pours clear reddish amber brown with small head. Nose is malty slightly medicinal cherry fruit and plum with bits of piney sweetness. Taste is similar, malt forward, medium body, bitter, dark cherry malt sweetness, a touch of cherry cough drop, some bread. Finish is sinilar with sweet piney cherry, bitter, and some bits of bread crust.

Bottle from Whole Foods Market in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is citrus rinds, hops, caramel. Taste is bitter, then sweet, then bitter again with some bourbon-y burn but without the big barleywine kick (only ~9%). One of the better brews I’ve had from SN.

Pours very clear dark amber with big beige head that lingers. Aroma has hint of alcohol and a balanced hop/malt presence. Taste is rich, sweet malty flavor, slight bitterness. Kind of mild for a 9+%, but very good.

Pours a nice clear ruby with a medium tan head. Aroma has robust dark fruits, earthy hops, some doughy malts...almost a woody note. Flavor follows suit...some caramel and burnt toffee that are super subtle...awesome balance of fruits and earthy hops...warming but not boozy. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish is warming and hoppy...earthy/oaky...dry.
