COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gold Medal Winner, Great American Beer Festival (Ales: Brown, Bitter and Pale 1987, Barleywine 1988,1992,1995). Sierra Nevada Bigfoot is an award winning example of the English Barley Wine style. It boasts a dense, fruity bouquet; an extremely rich, intense, bittersweet palate; and a deep, reddish-brown color. This ale is superbly balanced between an almost overpowering maltiness and a wonderfully bittersweet hoppiness.

2012 edition. Pours a slightly hazy cherry or deep amber colour with a frothy tan head. Aroma is heavy in floral and citrus hops with a distinct caramel malt character, also present are notes of red liquorice. Taste is bitter throughout with a fleeting sweetness in the middle of the sip. Full body, lively carbonation, and smooth on the palate. A very enjoyable brew.

The finest beer in America. Working mans champagne. Way better than any other barleywine out there, not to mention the overrated swill that passes for a $9.99 four pack. Not too sweet, just bitter enough. Anybody who’d give this less than a 5, probably has way too much time on their hands. Get a job and drink a Bigfoot.

Clear amber with tan head. Aroma is bitter grapefruit and sweet malt. Taste is quite bitter pine, grapefruit, dried fruit and some warming alcohol, medium sweet. Creamy texture with soft carbonation. Long lasting dry bitter finish.

2001 Bottle share, deep dark brown notes, very little carbonation left, malty and chewy, not oxidized... quite tasty

App: Pours clear hazlenut brown red with small non-adhesive foam. Aroma: Hops, malt, liquor, sirup, very sweetish. hoppier than expected. Taste: Starts of very sweet, malt, caramel but flows into quite a surprising bitterness, although I should’ve expected this due to the smell. Big beer, full body. Impressive take on the style.

Amazing English Barley Wine style. So thick and rich. Very dense and fruity. It comes with a deep red color that can be overpowering.

2011 bottle, three years cellared. Cloudy dark brown with creamy tan head. Aroma of prunes and raisins. Creamy heavy mouth feel, some alcohol burn too. Caramel toffee raisins prunes. Some bitterness in the finish. Good good stuff.

Not for the subtle, this brutally overhopped IPA-style “barleywine” comes from the bigger is better US school of craft beer. Attractive brown amber color with cream head that quickly dissipates. Bit of traditional barleywine malt sweetness on the nose quickly overwhelmed by piney "citrus." That’s even more so in the gladness, where "big" and "powerful" tramples on nuance. Let it sit long enough and a bit of complexity emerges with toffee, but why wait? Just eat a bowl of hops. On the slightly good side, the 9.6 percent ABV, while high, is reasonable for a barleywine.

Sweetness comes out of the glass. Then comes the hoppiness before the bitterness. 330ml. 2.7std drinks. 9.6%. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
