[5239-20130420] Tap. Lightly roasted malt aroma. Black body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Bitter roasted malt and hoppy resin notes in the flavour. Full body is fairly bitter. Delicious, very drinkable. (6/4/8/4/15) 3.7

12oz bottle. Unfiltered opaque red-black body. Big foamy beige head. The aroma leans into the doughy chocolate, doesn’t have that oily, minty astringency that I sometimes associate with the style..which is a good thing here. Rich and full bodied, this is an awesome beer, that much more awesome considering it is in the lower price bracket (24.99 a case). Big, luscious malt tones. Solid.

Poured from bottle (part of 4 Way IPA pack)- Deep brown, nearly black and opaque pour with 2 fingers of dark khaki head. Cold the aromas are muted piney hops with a hint of coffee. As it warms the dark roast coffee aromas take over the hops. Medium bodied, this is a clean beer with nice roasted malt flavors that are quickly consumed by classic SN piney hops. The hop/chocolate bitterness on the finish lingers for quite some time.

Pours black with tan head. Aroma is roast malts and floral hops. Nice smooth texture, Roast malt backbone with a little bit of floral hops to it and then alot of piney hop bitterness. Fairly simple but pretty damn good.

Pours very dark brown with a creamy tan head. The aroma has roasty malt that is quite creamy and not very bitter, light chocolate and a bit of citrus hops. It has a medium lush body with a nice amount of soft carbonation. The flavor begins with smooth roasty malt, cocoa, spice and a hint of citrus. The finish has much more of a grapefruit presence and a bit of woodiness and pine. Overall a nice enjoyable IPA.

Tasted at the 16th Bistro IPA Festival on April 6, 2013. This Black IPA pours a medium to dark brown color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. Nice roasty malts. Medium to milder bitterness IPA. Very drinkable. Nice balance. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter with some sweetness.
