Tap at Muddy Pig. Dark cola pour with a spotty head. Doesnít smell like much, but the roasty flavors explode on the taste. Good beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg at Westow House. It pours darkest brown with a small beige head. The nose is roasted malt, toasty sugars, dark fruit, rye bread, citrus and sherbet. The taste is roasted malt, earth, toast, charcoal, pine, berry, light treacle and decent bitterness with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Flavoursome and well balanced.

32oz growler from Spirits Berkley drank about 6 hours after purchase. Poured a good looking medium density black body under a foamy light beige head. Aroma is big time roasted chocolate malts, well done toast, citrus fruits (orange and grapefruit), Tootsie Roll. Medium to fuller bodied that turns fuller and creamy towards the end of the swallow, softer carbonation that adds to the creaminess and a lingering almost harsh bitter kick on the back end. Flavor is different but just as good as the aroma. Notes of earth, citrus rind, medium toast, bakers chocolate, green plant leafs. Good Black IPA here.

UPDATED: SEP 30, 2013 Draught at the black sheep in Dublin. Pours dark brown, foamy off white head. Dark malt, chocolate, raisins and resin bitterness in the aroma. Big flavours - roasted malt, coffee, a little grain and a big bang of hops. Silky smooth mouthfeel, soft, tight carbonation. Big, robust body. Finish is long and complex, with more roast malt and a little liquorice bitterness. Quite bitter. Very nice. N

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Earth black body, light tan head that tilts away from the rim on each sip and thus lasts with a thin bubbly cover to conclusion. Grainy chocolate on the nose, not much else. Chocolate vibe grasps quickly and firmly, assisted by a smooth filmlike mouthfeel and a cooling malt backbone. Empty mouthwash bottle finish, peculiar in every sense, with more shovels of tight pack malt on the linger. Decent enough but Iím completely missing the IPA element, this is more like an unroasty Dunkel.
