COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Blindfold Black IPA features a blend of hop varieties whose bright, fruity aroma complements the coffee-like flavors of dark roasted malts. Blindfold blankets us in darkness yet maintains a surprisingly light body and bold, hoppy character. This black IPA emerged from our Beer Camp program and builds on Sierra Nevada’s legendary love of hops with roasted malts for depth and complexity. Like its namesake, Blindfold is a bit disorienting--the color of a stout and the intense hop-forward flavors of a classic American IPA.

Bottle from 4-Way IPA mix pack. Very dark brown. Good head, retention, and lacing. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, nuts, with light floral hops and bubblegum/licorice. Taste is roasted malts with the typical coffee flavor. The hops chosen balance the flavor nicely. This is good, but why label a Robust Porter as an IPA?

The aroma is very hoppy with chocolate and toasted malts. The appearance is dark brown. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is average. Overall a nicely done Black IPA.

12 fl oz bottle sample via Piscator34. Pours an opaque brown with a medium mocha head. Aromas are roast, a touch of lactic acid, and a touch of pine resin. Tastes are pine and roasty malts, overall fairly dry. Light to medium body with a long astringent finish.

Roasty aromas, coffee with hints of chocolate and/or cocoa, hops are piney and resinous, subtle cedar. Brown-black with a moderately lasting dark khaki head. Very dry, bitter from both roasted malts and hops. Medium-full bodied, drinks stronger than it is without being too assertive.

Roasted malts aroma, little bit like coffee. Lighter body, fresh taste, smooth. Very hoppy, but roasty and malty as well.

Delicious brew. A nice roasty malt flavor. Aroma is roasty and the color is pitch black with a thin white head.

Bottle. Pours black with a big creamy head that fades slowly and leaves chunky lacing. Great appearance. Aroma is super roasty with some pine, chocolate, and coffee. Tastes great. Big roasted coffee with burnt wood. Light cocoa and pine hops in the finish. Fairly strong bitterness in the finish too but remains smooth and a little creamy. As it warms some licorice and floral hops appear. Medium to thick body. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Really nice Black IPA.

Totally solid Black IPA. Expect nothing less from SN. All the nice dark roasty flavors are there- chocolate, coffee, toast, raisiny, molasses with some hop presence to balance it out. Drinks pretty smooth- the hops are definitely there, but not overpowering. Solid, balanced, smooth- really good. Nothing overly exciting, but good.

12oz. bottle. Roasty, dark malt aroma, some carob sweetness and coffee with notes of dark bread, lightly citric, fruity hop and suggestions of doughy yeast in the background. Deep, dark brown in color, nearly black, with a lasting, foamy, ivory head and plenty of thick lacing left behind. Flavor profile is roasty, hoppy, very gently sweet and coffeeish, with dark chocolate, licorice and faint raisin, and a moderate degree of bitterness that appears late. Plenty of active effervescence on the palate along with a dryish feel and a medium body. Very tasty and well-rendered.
