Pours dark brown with a light, thin head. Shocking strong orange brown flavor. Exactly what you would think of a darkened saison. Great beer!

Draft at Jerry’s. Dark amber with good, creamy tan head / Sour malt and banana nose / Light to medium body, somewhat sour, with good balance and hop dryness on the finish / Flavors of sour cherry, banana, dry hops, toast, and caramel / Has a delicious sour ale character.

Draught at Toronado SD. As I overheard a fellow imbiber comment "I think this beer tasted like white wine, bread, and cranberry juice," I couldn’t help but agree. The finish is vinous and tart, with a sour fruit quality that meshes well with the bready malt flavors. The dark brown-red color is nice, capped by a large white head. Nectarines, berries, and tart apples pop out of the aroma. The body is lean and dry with smooth bubbles. I was a bit skeptical (this being my first Belgian-style beer from SN, but I would have ordered a couple more of these if I could have.

Tap at Three Floyds awhile back: Brillant reddish brown hue with a frothy head and spotty lace. The aroma has notes of light spices, apple and plum, toasted and caramel malts, earthy yeast esters and a grassy hop vapour. The taste has a nice spicy versus malt interplay, quite balanced with some light bitterness and acidity to back it up. There was a very faint salty note that actually work well with the other flavors. This beer was surprisingly refreshing, lively and crisp, hit the spot. Well done and exceeded my expections.

Presentation: It was served in a tulip glass from tap at the Pizza Plant Italian Pub. Appearance: Looking into the glass it had a deep reddish brown colored body with a creamy light tan head. The head was long lasting, thick and it left tons of sticky lacing to cling to the sides of the glass in thick rings. (Very Impressive) Smell: The aroma hits first with a bit of boozy alcohol. This has a slight sting but it quickly fades into some nice fruity Belgian style yeast notes. Apple, pear, and some faint tropical fruit notes slowly come out as it warms up. Taste/Palate: I got a little more balance here on the tongue then its aroma was suggesting. It has big bready maltiness fading into fruity yeast notes with a mild layer of boozy warmth just underneath adding an extra level of complexity and character. It is pleasantly sweet overall and it finishes fruity with just a light touch of hop spice. The texture is lively and well carbonated but yet still smooth with a nice full mouth feel. Notes: My overall thought was that it is a very solid brew. It’s visually appealing and it brings a nice blend of flavor to the palate.

Draft at Sacramento Brewing. Very dark, but translucent, brown color. Decent little beige head. Rather malty, slightly funky, aroma. Medium body with mild carbonation. Seems to have a touch of vanilla, mild Brett, and rather spicey hop. Not so funky as many Euro saisons, but the style is recognizable. The color and malt are a bit shocking. Finishes less than dry, still astringent, and very pleasing.

On tap at Cole’s. Aroma of spice, yeast and malt, pleasing. Dark mahogoney brown colour with lots of white head that leads lace. Served too cold, its still good drinkability, full mouthfeel. Spicy brown, a good cross-style. Hops and spice in the finish, with pepper remaining on the tongue.
