3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 30, 2004 2003, on tap: A very crisp, dry beer with strong hop character. Fluffy head, dark orange. Nice lacing. Mouth filling, spicy, somewhat herbal towards the finish. An IPA with perhaps just a little bit of holiday spicing. A little sharp, I’d like to try the bottled version in a year.
2004, bottle: Very nice.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This rating is from the 2002 bottle, also had a 2001 and 2003 this day: Hazy apple cider hue with small but solid off-white head and some lace. The aroma is pine, grapefruit, honey, toasted malts, sweet spices, and floral qualities. Crisp fruity and pine flavor to the forefront followed by a nice creamy malt undertone. Bitter taste lingers upon the spicy finish. Simple yet sublime complexity. Lively and slightly creamy mouthfeel. Classis holiday brew that you can't go wrong with. A must have each and every XMAS season. (notes, the 2001 is slightly less hoppy and more spicy and the 2003 is very green, hoppy and lacks malt backbone for now, will age some more)

UPDATED: APR 8, 2004 2003 bottle. West coast hop aroma. Deep orange amber out of the Snapple-like bottle. Warm malt, hops and pine. And more hops and hops. Warm finish. I hope Santa brings me one again next year.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
all i tasted was hops. maybe i had a funny bottle. they should rename it to prevent confusion that it is a normal holiday type beer. definitely a hophead ipa. pretty thick though, probably bc of the abv and gravity eh? available year round?

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2003. Copper color, big fluffy white head. Hoppy. A good IPA, leaning toward APA. I like it, but it doesn't seem all that distinguished as a seasonal beer, more like a regular hoppy pale.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice light amberish color with a somewhat complicated piney aroma to it. that aroma continues into the taste giveing it a powerful piney-hoppy flavor. pretty good.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a beautiful bronze hue topped with a fluffy, off-white head. This beer is rich, and the lace adheres thickly to the glass. How appropriate, I am using a Sierra glass and didn't know it.
Aroma is of baked bread, citrus hopes, spicy melon and graprefruit. Very, very nice nose on this beer.
Full mouthfeel of invigorating carbonation. Body of malt balanced and overwhelmed by hops, but in the most pleasant way.
This is a hopheads dream, yet is equally enjoyable for those not so hop centered. A masterpiece, at once deserving of its high regard on this site and elsewhere. Cheers

4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A nicely hopped up IPA. Great hop bite and nice malty body. Finish ends with a nice lingering hoppiness.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
a musky, pale taste of a finely aged beer, a little hard on the palate but a hard to find flavor, aroma and appearance are very basic. Small amount of head, some backtaste, but overall not a bad seasonal beer.
