3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: NOV 16, 2009 Pours an amber/copper color with a fizzly 2cm head thats off-white. Aroma is mildly hoppy. Start is light, but then hoppy throughout. This beer is extremely similar to the Long Trail Double Bag Ale, or vice versa. It’s ironic I have these both on the same night. 2003 bottle.-------& Sierra Nevada Torpedo Ale. Apparently, this is the Randallized version of the Celebration. 6 ounce sample at the Fair Oaks Brewfest. Piney, hoppy, acidic hop aroma present. Almost smells like pickle juice. Some cereal-like graininess is also appreciated. Not overly assertive aroma. Mildly hazy amber color with a frothy, creamy, off-white/yellowish head. Spicy, sweet, piney hops to start which turns sweeter, maltier, and toastier. Finishes with juicy, light, piney hops. Pretty damn tasty and very drinkable. (6/5/8/5/16 4.0 =Torpedo), above rating is based on Celebration, which really should be re-rated by me this year. ----RE-Rate---& bottle. Sweet, caramelly, malty nose with some light hints of piney and spicy hops. Mildly hazy amber-orange body with a large, pillowy off-yellow head. Starts with a little grapefruity hops in the start, before this becomes quite husky, chewy, and malty in the middle. Maltier than I remember. Finishes drier, and more bitter later on with some herbal hoppiness. Fairly drinkable and good. Score doesnt really change from before.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
2002 On Tap:This beer's appearance was a small sized ivory head that was creamy and smooth and contained fine-small sized bubbles that was mostly lasting. The body was uncarbonated and clear with a reddish hue.The nose was hoppy and malty with a very bitter and hoppy flavor. The mouthfeel was fairly smooth and somewhat tingly and it was medium bodied. There was a fair amount of lacing with this beer.I am not a hop head by any means so this one tasted very hoppy and bitter to me.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: DEC 3, 2003 This brew poured a small head of fine to medium sized off-white colored mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a transparent uncarbonated brown colored body and a fair lacing. It had a malt hop aroma and a hoppy bitter tingly mouthfeel. The flavor was all spicey hops.
The head was larger than in 2002. This bottle had carbonation where the previous sample did not. The head is larger due to the extra carbonation. The mouthfeel was more bubble perhaps due to this sample having more carbonation. The flavor was the same thoug. Hop heads will like it a lot. I increased the overall rating by 1 for the extra carbonation and it's effects.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Fantastic beige head on a medium amber body. Surprisingly light on the citrusy hop aroma from Sierra Nevada. The hop aroma seems more woody to me, as well as having a caramel and fruity aroma and hints of alcohol. Flavor is well balanced to the decidedly bitter, but it's an IPA and it should be that way. Very pleasant bitterness, not harsh or astringent. Caramel and fruitiness come in second to a lightly spicy hop. Clean hop aftertaste. Light medium body, moderate carbonation, but it's a little prickly, and a dry mouthfeel make this a very solid year to year consistant beer, although not terribly complex.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Amber red color with a fluffy tan head, crystal clear. Aroma is very hoppy, with a touch of malt. Flavor is hoppy and bitter throughout, a hint of malt in the background. A little less IPAish than SNPA, but a little hoppier. Not particularly well balanced.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Citrus hop aroma with fruity overtones, but not overwhelming. Copper to light red Ale in color. Great IPA flavor without too over the top hop presence, extreamly well balanced. Very easy drinking and satisfying beer that is easy to forget that it is 6.8 in ABV! Palate is hoppy, bitter and mildly fruity with citrus lastings. I absolutely think this is Sierra Nevada's best beer! This one goes out highly recommended!....Don't miss this one this season!
