Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale represents a time honored tradition of brewing a special beer for the holiday season. There are generous portions of barley malts and fine whole hops of several varieties, creating a brew with a full, rich and hearty character.

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2005 Pours a rich creamy head. Typical amber IPA color. What sets this beer apart is its intensity. In both aroma and flavor, itís as if the volume has been turned up 3 notches over the typical IPA (including Sierra Nevadaís own flagship brand). In its intensity, this beer delivers plenty of hop bitterness to counteract "floral acridity" present in some less well-crafted IPAís, some of which nevertheless remains subliminalized in this beer. I can say however, that I rather enjoyed Sierra Celebration.

UPDATED: MAR 16, 2010 I have had this one a few times in the past but not recently so I decided to try it again, especially as I am rather fond of their regular pale ale. sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a caramel color with a medium sized tan head. There was a nice flowery hop aroma. The flavor was nicely malty, a bit sweet and had a strong flowery and grapefruity hop presence. There was a light hop bitterness on the finish. A nice IPA overall with a good malt balance.

Has a aroma of pine needles and spice. The taste is smooth with a nice bitter finish.

2004 bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Color is a translucent reddish-amber. Aroma is moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin), sorta malty (toasted grain), with a nice yeast chaser. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately bitter, moderately acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, quite bitter, moderately acidic. Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation, with some astringency. I like this better than their Pale Ale. Iíll have to leave a sixer for next year!

UPDATED: NOV 5, 2007 Sampled from 2005 bottle. Spicy, almost overdone in that department. Age doesnít sit well with this one. Not enough malt and hops to overcome some stale spices. Well, thatís just my opinion.

Bottled, 2004 Edition. Big, big IPA hoppiness, but not much else to set it apart. Some kind of fruitcake character, probably as in a slight fruit and nut overtone.

I love this beer. Iíve recently taken up beer making as a result of a thoughtful Xmas gift and Iím going to try making a beer that tastes like this. If I succeed, Iíll lock it in and stick with it. Howy Lixer

I had this one out of the bottle. It poured a nice head that laced down the glass and was still there long afte the ale itself was gone. A very nice citrusy hoppy flavor and aroma with a sweet malt base and enough bitterness to give you a fat lip. All in all I enjoyed this and will again.

Are there any hops in this beer??? Wow, this is full bodied in every sense. For every sense. Fresh and sweet like newly cut grass... or something. A bit expensive though. US$16 for a bottle...

Nice IPA with a good citrus bite, backed up with enough malt to lend a smoothness to the beer. Still canít touch the Two Hearted though. Should be available year round!
