Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale represents a time honored tradition of brewing a special beer for the holiday season. There are generous portions of barley malts and fine whole hops of several varieties, creating a brew with a full, rich and hearty character.

Are there any hops in this beer??? Wow, this is full bodied in every sense. For every sense. Fresh and sweet like newly cut grass... or something. A bit expensive though. US$16 for a bottle...

Nice IPA with a good citrus bite, backed up with enough malt to lend a smoothness to the beer. Still can’t touch the Two Hearted though. Should be available year round!

Bright crystal clear deep amber ale with a healthy off white head. Aromas of grapefruit rind and spruce. Flavor starts off with sweet malt and is dominated with citric hop flavor. There is almost enough body and maltiness in this one to pull of the massive hop attack. Quite bitter finish. Bitterness wins, not enough balance. Overall, a pretty decent American IPA, but no Two Hearted.

UPDATED: NOV 14, 2005 Rerate: Good citrus aroma. Middle of beer some caramel aroma notes also. Darker shade of orange for body color. Decent off white head that left some good lacing. Citrus hop flavor though out beer. Little dry citrus aftertaste on the palate. Good Beer.

2004 Bottle. Amber/orange color with big, off-white head. Fruity aroma (grapefruit, pine). Slightly sweet malty flavor, and big hop flavor(again, grapefruit and piney). A very good ale to celebrate the season with !

12oz bottle (in tulip glass): Pours copper with an off white head. Has a very hoppy aroma. The flavor tastes of spices and hops.

Big, flavourful and bitter. Tasted off draft at Alternative Brews, Buffalo. A hazy orange-golden colour. with a thin white head. A definite hopheads brew, with an assertive, citrusy, piney flavour. The bidy is not very heavy like some IPA’s , but is not thin either. A beauty of a seasonal brew, which is easily drinkable, but consists of some very strong and complex hop flavours.

I have tried this in the bottle and on tap. The hop aroma and taste are there and it is a bitter beer. A dark amber colored beer with a head that is a nice light brown color. I think I prefer this in the bottle as the bitteriness is not as biting. Other than the seasonality this is a typical IPA style of beer and it is not that special.

2004 bottle. Pours an orange amber color with yeast in suspension and a thin white head. Very apealling aroma of orange, hops and malt. The flavor reveals orange peel, alcohol, strong hops and malt, bitter finish. Medium body, liquorous texture, soft carbonation. Very interesting, the orange peel adds a nice dimension to the beer. Thanks to JoeMcPhee for sending it.
