GriffinAvenue (395), Winchester, Massachusetts, USA Dec 20, 2007 Bottle. Deep caramel in color. Limited 1/2" head. Malty, butterscotch, sinnamon, coriander. medium to thin body. Acidic and richer flavoring is overwhelmed by the carbonation. Unpleasant bitter finish. OK, but not much of a celebration . imzugzug (103), Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 19, 2007 Deep dark orange pour with a nice lacy white head that doesn’t stick around long. First sip was too cold so I let it sit for a few. Second impression was better with lots of malts and strong apple and caramel flavors. Is it possible for it to be both sweet and dry. Sweet in your mouth but the feeling once it’s swallowed is quite dry. I probably should mention that this is from 2005 and has been properly stored. I’m left wondering if this should have been enjoyed fresh. No worries, it’s definitely not a drain pour weaselkenievil (738), Cheshire, England Dec 19, 2007 I think my first sierra nevada drink, a bottle from Tesco unfkingbelievably. Very nice indeed and I’ll be having more. Smells like a brewery, like a proper pub smell. Brought back memories of being sixteen and going in old mans pubs in Stockport because it was the only place we could get in. Smells a bit like the red fruit pastilles, nice amber colour, ooh tits on the telly PhillyHomeBrew (176), Forest Hills, New York, USA Dec 18, 2007 the pour is a darker brown body with a thick, quickly fleeting head. The nose has quite a bit of malt topped with apple and spice. The flavor is full of apple an lots of bitterness. dmtroyer (409), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 18, 2007 12oz 2007 vintage. Pours clear amber with a smallish beige head. Extremely tasty! Lots of good citrus, malt, a touch of raisin and of course hops in the dry finish. Awesome carbonation and a pretty long finish, great complexity, coupled with the fact that it isn’t so heavy as some makes this a real winner. Wish they brewed it year round. highibus (421), Mill Creek, Washington, USA Dec 18, 2007 Pours a clear copper color. Fluffy white head dissapates slowly. Nice an spicy hop flavor with light to medium body. Lovely winter warmer. blklab2007 (938), Connecticut, USA Dec 17, 2007 on tap poured a medium amber in color with a one finger head and carbination on the lighter side. aroma is definitely hop forward, malt, floral, and some spice. flavor is heavy hitting hop followed by spices, dose of malt thank god keeps this together and on track, with a distinct dry hop flavor. really a souped up ipa but for me who likes hops this comes across real well. LAboozehound (47), Lafayette, Louisiana, USA Dec 17, 2007 Worst Christmas ale I’ve had all year. I’m typically a fan of Sierra Nevada, but the overly malty and bitter taste here hide whatever flavors they were trying to make stand out. I bought a six pack of these, and drank two before totally giving up on it. A big disappointment from a normally good brewer.
