4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
(2001) I don’t know what it is with Sierra Nevada and their signature hop flavors....Excellent. The second the aroma hit my nose, I said ’Mmmmm’ (Yes...out loud). To be honest, if I had my eyes closed, I would have sworn (by aroma) it was their pale ale. The color is much darker, and the flavor a bit more full, but their Pale Ale is quite similar in hoppiness. I expected a very spicy beer as most Christmas Ales are, but instead got the wonderful hop and citrus flavors this wonderful brew had to offer. The color was copper and very clear with evident carbonation rising to the top to form a beautiful head. As I tipped the glass to drink I saw plenty of lace left on the edge, and even after leaving it sit for a while, the lace remained. I generally don’t consider myself a hop-head, but when it comes to Sierra Nevada, I am. After reading PhillyBeer2112’s review of this brew, I have to say that the analogy of chewing on a lemon rind is right on...but it is balanced perfect with the sweetness. Bottom line...I WILL go pick some more of this up SOON! Way to go Sierra Nevada...you never fail to inspire me. UPDATE! After enjoying the 2001 brew that I wrote about above, I was extremely fortunate enough to run into a store having the 2000 brew. I picked up a six of it and found it to be just as great as the 2001. However, the 2000 recipe tasted a slight bit hoppier and citrusy. Excellent!

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a nice dark amber.
Taste. Very bitter and very grapefruit forward, also with a slight pine and sweet caramel backing.
Overall. Very bitter and not for the feint hearted, whilst i think this is a very redeeming quality, this would get another couple of rating points if they kept or maybe even toned down the bitterness, to let the non bitter flavours of the hops present themselves better.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
On tap. Light aroma and orange color. Medium cloudiness, slightly fruity start on this and a little bitterness on the finish. Weak. Really not a good beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A nice, dark amber colour, bordering on red ale colours with a creamy beige head. Beautiful hoppy aroma, lots of sweet malt scents with hints of cinnamon and a piney undertone. Very malty, biscuit and toffee to taste with a pine and citrus pinch as a result of the hops. Well balanced. A nice velvety finish, creamy almost. Subtle carbonation and those malts make for a melt in your mouth crescendo.

4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Láhev 355 ml. Aroma je příjemně chlebové s jemným závanem zrajícího sýra. Pěna je zlato bílá, jemná, vysoká a držící. Barva samotného piva je sytě měděná a jemně kalná. Chuť je bohatá, má příjemný sladový základ s chutným komponentem šťávy z exotického ovoce a jemným nádechem vlašských ořechů, finiš je příjemně chmelově hořký a držící. V ústech pivo působí plně, má střední říz a je dobře pitelné. Jaká to lahodná IPA, opravdu velmi povedené pivo.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I liked this better than their regular IPA as well, maybe not as hoppy with some spices added instead to make it a tad sweeter. May be better than their regular pale ale as well. Pours a redish-copper color. A nice bitter-sweet flavor. A decent seasonal winter brew.
