3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
I have been waiting such a long time to taste this that it has become somewhat of an iconic beer. Unfortunately for this beer the Aussie scence has improved significantly as well as the availability of some seriously great US IPAs. So I have to now admit that this is rated on the basis of the competition. Still a great aroma and presentation in the glass. The hop presence is fine but not assertive. A bloody great beer as it would have been many years ago had I had it then. Now, a fine ale, but not a knockout.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Orangebrun klar med to fingre høyt beige skum. Humlepreget av fersken, ananas, grapefrukt og vanilje. Søtlig fruktig start før kraftig bitterhet overtar. Bitterheten sitter lenge. Medium kullsyre. Tørr.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Hazy orange pour with a big soapy tan head. Nice lacing. Aromas of malt, whole-grain bread, caramel, pine and resin. Well-balanced malt and hops. Medium-bodied with nice carbonation. Slightly sticky mouthfeel with a nice bitter finish. More good stuff from Sierra Nevada.

330 ml bottle, packaged 17 October 2014 (so drinking at ~5 months of age). Pour is amber with thin white head. Hop aroma has pine, citrus orange/grapefruit, high bitterness, medium carbonation and a hint of alcohol warmth. Displays the same Sierra Nevada hop character you know and love.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Classic seasonal beer from this pioneer among American craft brewers. Egg-white, regular, medium thick, lacing, moussy head with excellent retention, over a deep orange amber robe with slow fizz, a bit hazy with some minute dark yeast bits floating around. Typical ’dank’ aroma of orange peel, pink grapefruit, pine needles, old cheese, bark, mango, roasted peanuts, sweet honey, warm butter, calvados, biscuit, sundried tomato, dry cookies. Fresh fruity onset, sweet orange, starfruit, pineapple and redcurrant, smooth with soft, supple mouthfeel, medium carbonation tingling a bit, very nutty, biscuity and toasted malt backbone providing support for a long, dry, resinous, peppery hop bitter finish, more earthy than citrussy (feeling almost ’English’), drying and cleansing the palate and very appetizing, with a malty ’juiciness’ underneath; dustier, more powdery and more ’basic’ bitter after adding the deposit. Very good, but probably even better when young (tasted sample was 2 years old).

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
At Tolkien’s House, Zagreb. Thanks Filip! BB 30.9.2015? Misty amber-red body with a creamy off white head. Surprisingly tame, malty aroma, vague jammy fruitiness that partly likely comes from the hops... Strawberry jam notes in the taste, medium sweetness. Good medium bitterish hoppy note, vaguely herbal note. It’s a nice beer but by no means a thriller. Expected more from a Fresh Hop IPA. If the BB indicates it was bottled in late September, then it can be excused I guess and will retry at some point. Not worth it right now.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Semi-clear copper with an impressively long lasting, creamy, off-white/tan:ish head, leaving a lot of lacing on the glass’ walls. Aroma is hoppy, floral, pine, resin, grapefruit. Taste is very well balanced, wood, biscuits, mango, grapefruit, moderate bitterness. Medium body, medium carbonation. Long, hoppy, bitter finish. An IPA that’s often mentioned as a rather malty one, which I can’t really see with this bottle. Good one though.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from SB. Very nice amber red color, aroma is typically IPA. The taste is a bit anonymous, though. A good beer, but not perfect.
