Svesse (1877), Hässelby, Sweden May 3, 2008 (Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 25 April 2008) Dark amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty nose with notes of toffee, caramel, dark fruit and earthy hops. Initially malty taste with toffee and dark fruit, leading to a bittersweet finish with heavy notes of earthy hops staying at the back of the tongue. Complex, but with nice balance. Medium to full body, fairly sweet. Very nice one, but I would probably have to try the bottled version as well.
milljam (166), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Nov 28, 2008 Not really anywhere near an actual English ESB. Overall, nothing really stood out. jimmack34 (158), Ohio, USA Nov 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours a rich copper color with slight off white head. Smells hoppy and sweet. Tastes like bread grains, sweet malts, bittersweet hops, a little sugary. Very good.
