btree (13), New York, New York, USA Apr 10, 2008 I’m tasting the 2008. It has pine and grass in the aroma; pours copper with a slight haze; a generous ale head that dissipates quickly. There is sharp bitterness at the front with a hint of alcohol. Carbontation throughout and Cascadian hops in the followup; overall a nice dry beer. I have a little of the hops in the aftertaste; crisp and refreshing. This is very drinkable for its bitterness and simple for an ale. Exactly what is required of an ESB, with a Sierra twist.
milljam (166), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Nov 28, 2008 Not really anywhere near an actual English ESB. Overall, nothing really stood out. jimmack34 (158), Ohio, USA Nov 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours a rich copper color with slight off white head. Smells hoppy and sweet. Tastes like bread grains, sweet malts, bittersweet hops, a little sugary. Very good. Rich, malty beer, full of grainy flavour. Ending up in a dry, well hopped finish. Very nice. Hansen (1828), Randers, Denmark Oct 23, 2008 Copper colour and clear. Has a white head, mostly lasting. Aroma is mainly sweet, hoppy notes. Flavor starts lightly sweet and finish moderate bitter. Dry texture. austone (579), Turku; Pori, Finland Oct 15, 2008 Bottle at EBF. Hazy golden, small fizzy head. Cookie like, honeyish nose, little sulphur and hops. Clean malty flavor, fruity hops, yeast. Quite boring, sterile bitter. Medium bodied, fizzy carbonation.
