3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
25.4 oz. bottle. 2012 edition labeled "Estate Homegrown Ale." Pours a dark gold, almost amber. Huge, white head. Aroma of pine, but not overpowering so, as is often the case with hop monsters. Very fresh, sweet evergreen taste. A hint of citrus. Full body, heavy mouthfeel. I did not have the 2011, but I did have the first pour of the 2010 in the Sierra Nevada taproom, and they are similar: great body, hoppy but not over-the-top, and refreshing.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a reddish clear color with a good thick head. Aroma is hoppy, earthy, pine, citrus, resin, grapefruit, caramel, and a thick biscuit note to finish. Taste is clean, crisp, hoppy, citrus, pine, grapefruit, followed by the biscuit and malt. Average beer, not quite worth the price I feel.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured into a pint glass out of a 750ml bottle.
Pours a clear dark copper with a thick foamy off-white head. Outstanding head retention with equally good lacing.
Aroma is understate but full of dank hops with plenty of piney notes. Just a touch of grapefruit stuck in there.
The flavor is nearly all hops up front with plenty of spiciness along with resiny pine. There are some touches of tropical fruit but they are more understated. A good malt base with a little bit of roast and biscuit. Bitterness is quite high and lingers long after a slightly sticky finish.
Overall, a very good beer but it stops short of being outstanding. I love the fact that it is a wet hop ale and all the ingredients were grown on site.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours hazy copper with thin lasting white head. Aroma is dank hops, malty sweetness, and mild citrus. Taste is similar - maltiness, dank hops and spiciness. Slightly lingering vegetal taste that isn't ideal. Med body. Overall decent.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
From 22 oz. bottle poured to sampling glass. The scent of Estate is of hops and rich citrus. This ale has a tan and yellow tint with a large billowy white head and total cover lacing. The taste is lightly sweet with a solid medium bitterness. On the tongue Estate is a medium body beer with fizzy carbonation and a good long spicy finish. A very enjoyable beer made with care and a ton of thought - nice job!
