COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our handmade Estate Ale highlights the flavors of home. From the sun-drenched fields of California’s North Valley comes our Estate Ale. It’s rich with the flavors of the valley—hops with earthy, grapefruit-like flavors and layered spicy aromas, and barley with mild sweetness and smooth, toasted flavors. Enjoy this remarkable homegrown ale, made with organic wet hops and barley grown at our brewery in Chico, and one of the few estate-made ales produced anywhere in the world. Together, these crops grow alongside the brewery to make a truly unique brew.

25.4 oz. bottle. 2012 edition labeled "Estate Homegrown Ale." Pours a dark gold, almost amber. Huge, white head. Aroma of pine, but not overpowering so, as is often the case with hop monsters. Very fresh, sweet evergreen taste. A hint of citrus. Full body, heavy mouthfeel. I did not have the 2011, but I did have the first pour of the 2010 in the Sierra Nevada taproom, and they are similar: great body, hoppy but not over-the-top, and refreshing.

Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a snifter. Hazy Crimson, medium body, medium/light carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is dank hops, herbal hops, and slightly bitter finish.

Pours a deep, clear copper with a medium white head which lingers a bit......aroma is caramel, malt, pine notes.....taste is some pine, touch of earthiness, very present and chewy pale malt taste, tailing off into an earthy bitterness. A different tasting IPA but well done and nicely balanced.

Bottle. Clear copper color with thick light biege head and substantial lacing. Nose of fresh pine hops and fresh cut grass with hop oil and floral perfume notes. Fresh pine bitterness with some caramel notes. Resiny bitterness throughout especially in the long finish. Slightly watery mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

bottle. pours a bright copper with a fluffy, chunky head with lots of lacing. Aroma is juicy and bitter hops. Delicious malts and hops come together seemlessly. Sierra Nevada can always produce a rockstar or the industry standard.

Pours a clear golden orange on tap with fluffy white head that dissipates to leave great lace. Aroma of resinous citrus and pine hops, the three c’s, and some nice caramel malt. Taste follows, nice balance, moderate bitterness. Very clean, very nice.

Appearance: pours with a very large beige head, beer is a very clear dark bronze color, almost brown Aroma: egg, bread, pine, grass, dank, floral Taste: very strong bitterness, dark toasted malt, Palate: strong bitter aftertaste, average carbonation, medium mouthfeel Overall: intensely bitter throughout, has some coffee malt in the background, some of these Sierra Nevada beers are the most bitter I've had and I like them, could use a bit more complexity ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
