Flipside Red IPA is a rebuttal to the mild-mannered beers of summer. Tropical fruit and citrus hop flavors from the use of whole-cone Citra, Simcoe and Centennial hops are the perfect notes for this in-between season.

Loved this beer a couple of years ago. Now, in 2014, not as into it on my second tasting. It tastes to me like a faded IPA with nothing distinctive to replace what's missing. Just a bit muddier from what I remember I guess. But still a solid beer and worth a try. I'll finish the six pack and revise if subsequent tastes change my impression ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours a copper brown with medium tan head. Very malty for an IPA (I guess thatís why itís a red) and its best quality is the robust malt character. Sweet, but not overly so. Citrusy hops in the finish. Really great beer!

A delicious red IPA. Aroma was pretty good. Perfect mix of sweet malt and citrus hops. Couldnít detect individual smells but it was fine. Pour was a dark burnt red with a one finger off white head. Taste was delicious. Bursting full of hop flavor and very tasty for such a low ABV beer. Given the red color and the dryness of the beer I thought it was made with rye but donít see it in the description. Nice dry malty flavor quickly gave way to grapefruit rind, lemon and slight pine. Nice carbonation. Great beer

Bottle. Nice amber/red hue to this with a little head and lace. Aroma contains some citrus, caramel, and tropical fruit. Flavor is bitter with some lemons, caramel, grapefruit, and mango. A bitter and somewhat sour after taste.

Draft at Bricks. Pours clear copper with nice off white head. Nose is some tropical fruit and some spice. Taste adds some sweetness and some rye spice. Nice different IPA. The spice can wear on you.

Fresh bottle poured into a pint glass. The beer pours a clear rusty copper with a solid 2 inches of light tan head that leaves decent lacing. The aroma is orange zest, caramel candy, and oddly enough cookie dough and something spicy...smells like rye. Itís interesting. Ok time to taste. Right off the bad I get hit with an instant piney bitterness and orange/lemon citrus, however there is also a somewhat subdued sweetness that mixes in well. Itís that caramel cookie dough flavor I described that I cannot put a finger on. Itís an interesting mix though, and really does fulfill itís point of being a seasonal transitional beer. I also pick up some spicy flavors in the finish which I am positive is rye grain. The beer is pretty dry from start to finish, and it leaves a somewhat bitter aftertaste which is followed by more sweetness on the tongue. Overall I like this beer for a late summer/early fall drink. It hits the spot nicely.

Pours with a thick head and a nice rich red amber color. Sweet, fruity, floral aroma (pleasant). Nice sweet malt taste with almost a delayed bitter finish. Tasty beer.

Bottle. Sweet caramel nose, with tropical fruit an piney hops. Light reddish/copper color, thick rocky head, clumpy lace. Caramel, light citrus/pine bittering, moderate hoppy finish. Nice enough. Flavors rise up through mid and final... and then flatten out suddenly. A hoppy session brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle. Pours clear amber with an off-white head. Citrusy hop aroma, malty aromas. Citrus and floral hops lead into stronger toasty malts in the flavor. A quality beverage.

>> My 100th Sierra Nevada rating. Clear deep red pour. Excellent buttermilk head formation. Okay retention. Nose is grilled fruit, pine, resin. Taste is orange juice, grilled strawberry, lemony, lactic acid, orange juice, bitter grapefruit juice. Acidic and leathery back end. Mild toast. Good stuff. SN is perhaps the only brewery that can make a tasty red IPA, so kudos.
