Flipside Red IPA is a rebuttal to the mild-mannered beers of summer. Tropical fruit and citrus hop flavors from the use of whole-cone Citra, Simcoe and Centennial hops are the perfect notes for this in-between season.

Gorgeous to look at - rich red body with creamy head. Classic IPA flavor, with a nice hoppy-malty balance. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy with a frothy top tan colored bubbles that were and left behind a transparent red brown colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The mild aroma was mild hop and Irish Red malty. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste. The sharp flavor contained notes of rye wheat Irish red malt and hops. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.

Bottle. Pours clear red amber, medium beige head, creamy, nice lacing. Aroma is citrus, grapefruit, passion fruit, a bit of caramel, pine and rye. Flavor is about the same, light sweet, light bitter. Full body, creamy mouthfeel.

10/7/13. 12oz bottle from Target of all places. Red IPA? pepsican would not be happy. Light amber pour, clear, with a nice khaki head that sticks and laces okay. Very mild aroma - soapy hops, mild pine, mineral bitter quality. Mild hop flavor, again soapy, some pine, caramel, and hints of chocolate. Meh.

Drank a few bottles of Flipside thanks to the hospitality of friends over the past month. Citrus flavors, however, not over the top bitterness and a big malty backbone complete this IPA. On an October afternoon with unseasonable 80’s and a past Saturday night in the 50’s around a fire pit Flipside delivered a good dose of flavor and satisfaction.

Excellent IPA. Red color, thick head. Spicy, fruity hop character. Grapefruit and caramel evenly balanced.

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, bottled on 8/16/2013. Pours lightly cloudy light ruby red color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, mango, pineapple, lemon zest, orange zest, caramel, toast, floral, grass, light pine, and floral earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good complexity of hop notes with a moderate malt balance; and solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, mango, pineapple, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, caramel, toast, floral, grass, pine, and floral earthiness. Fair amount of earthy pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus zest, mango, pineapple, caramel, toast, floral, grass, and pine on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity of hop and malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, smooth, and moderately crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice IPA. Very nice balance and complexity of hop and malt flavors; and extremely crisp and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Pretty similar flavor footprint to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Malts are just a touch more earthy, and hops have more sticky pine and tropical fruit notes on the nose and palate, probably from the whole-cone Citra and Simcoe hops. Solid, though not mind-blowing. A good easy-to-obtain fall beer option for the hops lover.

Pours bright, copper red with l lacy head. The aroma is piney hops and rich caramel. Those tangy hops coast in the flavor over a really delicious, buttery, toasted malt. Big, bitter kick in the finish. The only bad thing about Flipside is that it’s a seasonal and not a regular release.
