Flipside Red IPA is a rebuttal to the mild-mannered beers of summer. Tropical fruit and citrus hop flavors from the use of whole-cone Citra, Simcoe and Centennial hops are the perfect notes for this in-between season.

Lots of smoke from the bottle. pours reddish and very clear. i had a thick white head with lots of lacing. the aroma was very floral, and you can pick up the centennial hops easily. You also smell the aromas of the tropical fruit, possibly pineapple. The taste was the pineapple fruitiness up front and end with the bitter hops. overall a above average beer.

Hazy, brown pour with a tan head. It has a light citrus and earthy hop aroma. The medium body has slightly oily texture with lively carbonation. The taste is bitter with a dry finish.

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2014 2014 - Very different aroma and flavor profile. The aroma is much more pine and earthy with subtle notes of grapefruit. The flavor has lost nearly all the fruit and caramel notes and seems dominated by what’s most likely the substitution or addition of chocolate or black malt. The hop flavor seems less exotic and lacking, one dimensional. 2013 - Starts bitter, flips to fruity, then finishes bitter. The aroma is mild, floral, citrus and caramel. Nicely blended flavors carry the same idea with a strong punch of fruity hops. Could use a bit more body and dry hopping.

On draft. Pours deep red with a nice head. Pine and citrus aromas. Lots of grapefruit and citrus flavors. A little lacking in the malt profile. Definitely more hop forward than balanced. Overall a really good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sierra Nevada Flipside Red IPA is a real treat from an established craft brewery. Aroma of citrus fruit coming from a deep red pour with a nice head. Tropical and citrus fruit notes are prominent in the taste with just enough bitterness. Finish is clean with the citrus and tropical fruit notes remaining. Flipside Red is a nice end of summer brew to quench your palate.

Good red ale. Fresh bottle from Premier Gourmet. Toasted malt makes it so much a red. Lacy, nice hopping.

Starts with a big piney hop nose, pours a clear red with just a dusting of off white head. Big hoppy flavor, with citrus and pine notes balanced by some caramel malts. Long lingering bitter finish, a nice solid IPA.

Reddish brown pour. Nose is malted with hop notes. Taste is moderately hoped, maybe some tropical fruit, grapefruit. Some bitterness at the end. This is a red ipa, hops are tempered by a malt backbone. Not bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
