3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Got this at the 16th St. Albertsons this evening... Pours with a 2 finger lite tan head.. the brew is clear red/amber... splotchy
Nose shows big American hops... citrus and pine are unapologetic... Hops are big and fresh and sorta pummel the caramel/dark toasty malty notes.
Flavor is not as good as the aroma IMO... seems a bit watered down compared to the big nose... light toasty elements hit a good piney/grapefruit hoppy bite.
Body is lighter than expected... carbonation is good... Despite my above negatives, this is a well done beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle at home. Pours dark copper. Head is off white which reduces to thin and wispy. Floral, pine, citrus nose. These aromas are there but not strong enough for me. Flavour is wood, dry sweet with stringent bitterness on the finish. Body is light, too light. This gives it a water mouthfeel which isn’t great. Thought this beer would open up a bit when a bit warmer but it doesn’t. Disappointing.

a solid red .. . pours a dark copper .. . mild head, light lacing in the end .. . some redness, medium malts, and harp resin .. . medium mouth, abrupt finish .. . . renovating a kitchen is like herpes from a prostitute. money oddly spent.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap @ Willy McCoy’s. Pours a perfect dark amber with lasting head and great lacing. The perfect appearance for a Red IPA. Aroma is spicy hops, tropical fruit - pretty juicy overall. Taste is full and earthy with caramel, a little rye bite and plenty of piney hops. Palate is medium and smooth, which balances the flavor well. Very nice.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice late summer addition to the SN range. Rye IPA’s by nature are a little tough on the palate, which is really the only knock against this one. Nice grapefruit and citrus hop notes in the aroma and a beautiful red to orange color. Large white head, good lacing on the glass. Could use slightly more of a bready or caramel malt backbone to combat the spicy rye and bitter hops, balance is a little off.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
tap at the Chico brewpub Aug 2013 - Pours dark amber with a light tan head and excellent lacing. The aroma is dominated by citrus hops. The flavor features caramel malt and crisp, aggressive citrus hop bitterness. It goes well together. There’s a medium body and a crisp, bitter finish.

Really hoppy without a ton of bitterness. If you like mapleleaf from anchor brewing youd like this. Great aroma.
