COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Flipside Red IPA is a rebuttal to the mild-mannered beers of summer. Tropical fruit and citrus hop flavors from the use of whole-cone Citra, Simcoe and Centennial hops are the perfect notes for this in-between season.

Clear garnet pour with a 2 finger, frothy beige head that has great retention. Aroma is earthy, grassy, citrus and pine hops, woody, husky grain and something of a strange floral note. Flavor is woody, husky grain, fallen leaves, woody tannin-like notes, grassy, pine and herbal hops, some crusty bread and light caramel sweetness. Light to medium, dry body with a slightly chalky feel and medium strength, sharp carbonation. Decent, but has a bitter, planty undertone all over that doesn’t really work for me. Tastes like maybe they used all of the expensive hops listed, but neglected to use any hops at all late enough in the boil to add much flavor or aroma on the more vibrant side of the hoppy spectrum that Citra and Centennial suggest. I might try this again to see if it smoothes out a bit as some of the strange planty notes could just be a little IPA greenness.

Not bad and quite enjoyable. Drinkable and not so bitter but too thin for this brewery it was.

bottle- pours hazy, deep burgundy with lots of bubbly carbonation, creamy, khaki head. nose is herbal hops, nutty, caramel and toasted hops. medium to full bodied. just really dry and almost metallic in nature. It’s a Red IPA that could use some refinement.

Bottle at home. Nice dark pour of darker maroon. Rocky head of bout 1/2 inch. Has a fairly forward dull ipa aroma. First taste is somewhat reminiscent of b.o., if that’s possible. Not sure if I can appreciate this taste. So first it was IPA then double IPA then black IPA then white IPA and now red IPA? WTF? Any beer can be made like an IPA but why have 15 different styles for it? Go figger. Yes, taste is IPA all over the place, bitter rude nasty chewing on grapefruit rinds happy BS, as usual with this style. There, now you have it, a red ale that certainly tastes like an IPA. After all these years, I’m still not sure what you guys dig in the IPA. Let’s get back to the taste pf real beer and forget about using hops as a preservative. After all, we are in the 21st century, why use hops as a preservative? Lets get to the root of real beer and forgo this IPA happy bullshit. IPA,: the next pale lager of macro brews. Overall? Not impressed.

Bottle at home. Pours dark copper. Head is off white which reduces to thin and wispy. Floral, pine, citrus nose. These aromas are there but not strong enough for me. Flavour is wood, dry sweet with stringent bitterness on the finish. Body is light, too light. This gives it a water mouthfeel which isn’t great. Thought this beer would open up a bit when a bit warmer but it doesn’t. Disappointing.

On tap @ Willy McCoy’s. Pours a perfect dark amber with lasting head and great lacing. The perfect appearance for a Red IPA. Aroma is spicy hops, tropical fruit - pretty juicy overall. Taste is full and earthy with caramel, a little rye bite and plenty of piney hops. Palate is medium and smooth, which balances the flavor well. Very nice.

A reddish brown beer with a small off-white head. The aroma is piney hops, caramel, and grain. The flavor is pine, sweet malt, and nutty.
