COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Foam is a German-style Pilsner, light bodied and easy drinking, yet loaded with flavor. Brewed with a mix of European and American malts, balanced by a spicy, and herbal hop kick. Brewed specifically for Phish festivals, Foam is a crisp and refreshing traditional pale gold lager beer. In the words of Phish— “I’m looking through, And it all would be, So crystal clear, If it wasn’t for the foam.” Great music, great beer, and good times.

Comes out of the tap a somewhat hazy solar yellow with a decent ivory head. Aroma is not strong, but invites a taste with its malty and subtly fruity tones. Flavor is largely malty with a subtle undertone of pear, crisp and refreshing if not complex. Mouthfeel has OK texture and fizz, seems about average for a pils. Fair to middlin’ and leaning towards middlin’. Pils fans should like it.

Tap at CK. Good thing because I would never go to a Phish concert. Clear golden to straw pour. Weak head formation. Creamed corn DMS and diacetyl in the nose. Taste is suddy, soapy, and richer corn flakes and small oatmeal. Creamed corn DMS throughout. Typical raw, grain heavy, American prohibition style lager. Grits, corn, oatmeal. With decanting, diacetyl cleans up a bit. Less slick on the palate. Tangy and lemon heavy. Rich and refreshing. Like the Hip Helles, not sure if these off flavors are intentional or unintentional. DMS is a pretty common off flavor for cool fermentation. I liked it regardless.

potbeerjob (1343) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 3, 2009
Draft at Phish Festival 8l in Indio California. Clear light golden color with white head. Aroma is spicy, with a lot of hop character in nose. Flavor is also hoppy for pilsner and also spicy with medium depth of malt balance. Great beer, great idea. Perfect beer for the heat of the day which was about 85 degrees fahrenheit. Finish has light bite with lingering light bitterness. Nice pilsner, but prefer mama’s little yellow pils, which was also available at the event and i drank them right next to each other.

The only place I’ve ever enjoyed this beer was at the Indio Polo Club for Festival 8. Pale Ale is one of my favorites anyway so when I heard Sierra was brewing Foam specially for the festival, it was on. It was pretty hot out there and needless to say, this stuff was delicious. It kinda reminded me of a lighter Pale Ale but there was so many other "Substances" in my system I don’t think I’m in a position to give any type of helpful reveiw. Magic, thats what it tasted like, magic.
