The aroma is rich citrus, lemons and oranges, some biscuit. The flavor is a nice balanced and very drinkable IIPA; sweet oranges, zesty citrus, lingering bitterness in the finish. The malt biscuit flavors nearly balance it out. Dry. Very nice.

This is a good brew. Nice hop, pine citrus. The finish was grassy. I liked the blend.

Hazy amber beer, tidy white head. Smooth semi dry palate, soft. Creamy fresh malt base. Sweetish hops - pine and pineapple. Traces of orange and bitter grapefruit citrus. Dry finish with a long bitter linger. Very nice!

August 24th, 2011 - I’ve never heard of Sierra Nevada’s Ghidorah before - I had this back when it was a number. Reviews must have been good, because, like Hugh of the Borg, this has been given a designation. Of the four beers that came in my Sierra Nevada Beer Camp pack, I recall this being the most conventional, but also the best. It glows with a sunset orange, diffusing sunlight through it’s deep and sweet haze like a thin slab of marble. For all the light play, the aroma and flavor reveal a simple and solid double IPA. Hoppy and syrupy in the smell with lots of American hops bolstering the booze with bitterness, this beer puts its best and well balanced foot forward. Sweet but reasonable, bitter but not caustic, this is a balanced Double IPA that I missed between bottles.

As far as I’m concerned Sierra Nevada can do no wrong so I bought the beer camp twelve pack without hesitation. The fact that they are putting out a mixed twelve with brand new beers is impressive even if they are one-offs. $17 wasn’t too tough to stomach given the absurd price of everything these days. Nice orange yellow, decent head but no lacing oddly enough. Smell is kind of dank and stanky in a good way. The taste is hard citrus, bitter, well done. This needs to be a seasonal bomber offering, I’d buy plenty.

12oz 2011 Beer Camp bottle - This Double IPA pours a cloudy orange-amber color with a white head of foam that quickly settles to a top coat and ring, but leaves some good lacing on the sides. Nice aroma featuring citrus, piney and floral hops with a substantial rich toasted malt backbone. Slightly earthy and herbal. High ABV not apparent. Some nice sweet citrus up front but this turns increasingly piney and earthy and bitter until that’s about all that is left in the aftertaste. Strong grapefruit, orange and pine flavored hops with an underlying malt backbone that tames the hops a little but doesn’t block the strong hop flavor and medium-high bitterness. Even as a hop-head, I found this brew near the challenging level when fresh. Medium body; low carbonation that ran out before I got to the bottom of the glass; some astringency (from hops?)
O: a good DIPA worth trying.

The beer is transparent and yellow with plentiful effervescence. Perched atop the liquid I have been craving all day is an inch of white, fluffy head that leaves ample lacing on the pint glass.
The aroma offers some pine and hops. Pretty straightforward.
The flavor consists primarily of piney hops, with a healthy amount of malt presence as well. Overly bitter. Alcohol presence gets in the way.
The body is medium to thick. The beer finishes with a strong hop bitterness and some warming alcohol. A malty bitterness lingers on the palate for several minutes. Little, if any, citrus or fruit flavors. Eh...
Overall, an OK brew. The ubiquitous Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is much better.

Small draught sample@SBWF2011. Slightly hazy goldeny orange colour, minor head. Aroma is fruity and floral hops with some grassy and bready malts. Flavour is sweet bready and caramelly maltyness along with some fruity, floral and nectary notes. Quite mild DIPA, but hides the alcohol quite well, even though it’s no "Hop bomb".
