As winter begins its slide toward the sunny days of spring, we bring you Glissade Golden Bock to help you enjoy the ride. Glissade is a remarkably mellow take on the traditional spring bock. With restrained sweetness, we emphasize subtle malt flavor, balanced against delicate aromas of spicy and floral European hops. This complex balance helps Glissade slide across the palate—bracing us against the last cold nights of winter, while its bright golden color turns our thoughts toward spring.

Tasty brew for the style. Quite reminescent of all those German Bocks I quaffed back in the day My only real complaint comes against the style itself. Pilsener Bocks simply don’t have the substance to carry the high alcohol content without it being objectionably noticeable. It always comes across as a spiked pilsener, which is simply not a good thing IMO. In spite of that complaint, this is a very good offering for the style, and a nice change of pace for one accustomed to strong IPAs.

"didn’t enjoy as much as the pale bock, but it was a well made beer. nice blance between the sweetish malt and earthy hops. smooth and easy drinking, just not terribly complicated. "

It has a golden orange amber body with good clarity. The aggressive pour made only an average size head that faded quickly leaving only a light wispy film covering. There was no real lacing to speak of. The aroma is some what sweet and bready with mild honey like notes as well as some pale grain and grassy/leafy hops. The aroma had spot on foreshadowing to the flavor. It tastes just like the aroma with a slight addition of some light acidity in the hops on the finish. It’s a medium bodied beer with a smooth lightly carbonated texture.

Interesting and quite different form the last Sierra Nevada beers I have had. Nice and not so hoppy.

Rated on 4-03-2010 (Bottle) This beer pours a small fizzy white head with a short retention, transparent yellow body, fast rising carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is malty, grainy, hops, spicy, and crisp. The taste is malty, grainy, bready, hops, crisp, and refreshing. The palate is lively carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this beer is quaffable and refreshing.

Not an award winner by any stretch of the imagination, but it seems like this style is the go-to for brewers looking to fill the Spring range just after winter finishes. Clean, crisp, sweet bready malt forward despite what the label says, just enough hop notes to be present. Drinkable but nothing special.
