3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Picked up a growler of this. Pours a light copper color and is darker than most IPAs with lots of head and excellent lacing. Aroma is not as hoppy as I expected and rather weak. Lagunitas is well known for their "house" flavor but I think the same can be said for Sierra Nevada. I know special hops were used for this beer but it still tastes like other Sierra Nevada beers and in particular torpedo. Taste is sweet and a little spicy with some lingering bitterness. Medium bodied with a dry finish. I think this is a rather boring beer but then again I also think torpedo is overrated so that makes sense. If you like torpedo you will like this.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sweet honey and pine aroma with a tiny hint of alcohol. Bitter hoppy taste. Resin, pine, some malt. Sweet aftertaste. Kind of syrupy. It could have been fresher and thus better.

Glass on tap against the grain. Pours clearish amber. Lovely froth head. Aroma a little hidden by head. Fruit, apple, pear, floral aroma. Lots of fruit cocktail sweetness in flavour. Mild bitterness, full flavour with a lasting aftertaste. This is a nice beer.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
The aroma is a little strange with a wet cantaloupe smell. Taste is much better with a whimsical citrus, pine note. The finish is very caramel and malty and almost slippery--I like that...and no onions, that’s a plus! Overall, it’s fine but I was expecting a lot more.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
24 oz bottle poured into a snifter. The aromas of baked, dark rye bread and peanuts are noticeable at first. After awhile, these fade and sweet grapefruit, pine, and even a touch of mint (?) comes through. The pour is a very hazy / murky and opaque orange - brown with a puffy, light brown head. The head reduces down to a thick ring with good, although thin, coverage on the surface, and leaves an average lacing. The taste is highly bitter with a medium high, caramel syrup and fruit sweetness. A touch of sourness appears at the finish. The mouth feel is a very creamy, full body, with lots of soft carbonation. There’s a grapefruit and citrus peel note at the finish along with a note of pine, mint, and caramel nut as well as a very light rye bread. It’s a touch astringent, but this fades quickly in the aftertaste and the mouth is left with a dry and potent pine and grapefruit taste.

Transfer from BA reviewed 1-15-12 -
Poured from bottle into pint glass
Appearance - A copper-orange color with an enormous head upon pouring. This very slowly fades leaving some wonderful lacing.
Smell - A piney aroma is most potent upon pouring with a lighter more fruity grapefruit hop smell mixed with a bit of floral. As it sits the potency of the pine seems to diminish a bit while the floral and fruity hop aroma come through more.
Taste - A bit of sweet from the citrus hop and some malt begins the taste profile. The pine comes in heavy in the middle and fades a bit toward the end, which is when the floral and the citrus return to finish off the taste profile.
Mouthfeel - A good mouthfeel with a nice sturdy body. Smooth and very drinkable. The only thing keeping the mouthfeel down a bit is the carbonation. It seems a bit under-carbonated almost as though all the carbonation runs from the brew upon pouring to form the beautiful head that is formed.
Overall - This is a very spicy and refreshing beer. One to enjoy.

Bottle. From notes. Pours a deep orange to almost brown. Aroma of grapefruit and a slight sweet coffee. Taste is middle of the road hoppy, slightly bitter and very much Sierra Nevada.

This is an outstanding India Pale Ale. Hoppy as hell. Very hoppy. I just adore this kind of beers. Diversity of spicey-fruity-bitter impressions just made my head turning.
