Each fall, hops reach their peak flavor- bursting with aromatic oils that give ales layers of complex flavor and aroma that can only happen at harvest time. For us, fall comes twice a year- once in each hemisphere. This Harvest Ale features "wet" or un-dried whole-cone hops from Yakima, WA that are plucked from the bine and delivered to our brewery within 24 hours of picking.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2007 From 24 fl oz bottle, blind tasting at Papsoes - beer no 4. Pours golden orange to light brown with diminished head. Lovely fruity aroma and with a base of caramel malt. Flavour is decent bitter on top of a sweet malt base. Ends in a nice caramel and hoppy blend with mild bitterness. Well balanced.7-4-7-3-15=3.6

24 fl oz. bottle, thanks to sunevdj. Pours clear orange with a diminishing light orange head. Fresh hoppy floral aroma and with a mild caramel malt base. Flavour is very fresh floral to fruity. Has a mild yet clear caramel malt base that stays dry due to the quite dominant hops. End has a very dry bitter and lovely floral hops flavour. Fresh.8-4-8-4-16=4

Draft. An amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma is sweet and very hoppy giving it notes of grass and grapefruit. The flavor is also sweet and very hoppy - giving it notes of grass and grapefruit, but also with note of caramel. I also had this bottle, where I found it had lost some character, bottled scores 6/3/7/3/13=3.2

(Bottle 72 cl) Courtesy of MaltOMeal. Vintage 2007. Clear, amber coloured with a small, off-white head leaving a neat lacework. Fresh, citrusy aroma. Medium body with a light caramel sweetness and again these fresh, citrusy hop accents that also leave a solid bitterness. Incredibly crisp and refreshing IPA. 021107

25th August 2008. This was a 2007 11th Edition. Unsurprisingly hoppy but quite bitter as well. Some sweetish malt coming through. Very drinkable.

Beautiful amber color, with creamy head. It has a hop aroma with caramel, and a caramel with hop flavor, a lot of caramel indeed. Some resins. Less hop surprise than promised, but pleasant.

2007-11-02, Papsoe Blind Tasting, 7-5-7-5-15=39
Hazy copper color, nice head. Even if not too strong, the aroma is nice, hoppy, a bit fruity and in minor key earthy too, there is also a touch of rubber. Quite good body strength, strong caramel and toffee flavor, and the powerful hopping immediately kicks in, with its character, quite resiny fruity and earthy. Enjoyable.
