Commercial Description:
Our Harvest Ale was the first American beer ever brewed with 100% fresh picked, "wet hops." In just one day, we harvest hops in Yakima, WA, ship them that night to our brewery in Chico, CA, and then rush them into the brew kettle as they are unloaded at dawn the next day.

This extraordinary effort creates a beer with unmatched aromatics of pine and citrus with layers of spicey sweet notes that hop fanatic like us dream of all year. Enjoy!

Pours a nice orange with some red highlights and a very nice 2-3 finger off-white head that stuck around and laced up nice. NOT as hoppy either in taste OR aroma as I anticipated. That being said, nice and piney with very little citrus and well-balanced with some caramel malts. There is a bit of alcohol in the finish. Nice creamy mouthfeel. Very very nice beer but it could do with some more hop bitterness to make it more interesting.

Soft white head that lingers for a while. You can really smell the hops on this one in front of an earthy malt nose. The beer is malty with an earthy hop nose. There is a sharp bitterness on the end that disappears at the end of the drink. Unlike a lot of Sierra Nevda, you can taste the alcohol in this one, but overall a great brew.

12th release bottle from Pacific Liquor in North Park (San Diego, CA). Pours a bright ruby-orange from the bottle with a big frothy off-white head. The head lasts a while and leaves great lacing. Aroma not as strong as I would have suspected, but consists of pine and an almost vegetable quality. Strong taste of spicy pine with generally less citrus notes than other California IPAs. Dry and bitter finish. Light and easily drinkable. A good IPA, especially for the price.

(Bottle, 12th Release, at Kaisla, Helsinki, on 2009-03-09) Amber and clear. Medium sized, long lasting and bit tan coloured head. Grass, lot of hops and citricness aroma. Full bodied and bit dry palate with medium carbonation. Malts, lot of hops, saltiness, grass, citricness, pine and bit of sweetness in taste. Long lastin aftertaste containing pine, malts and bitterness.

Surprisingly hoppy for the cost ($4.00 a pint in OH). The aroma was distinctly citrus and evocative of a delicious IPA. The beer itself however is noticeably lighter and easier drinking. Definitely worth a selection when you see it on the menu.

Pours a clear copper color with a sizable white head. Aroma is all hops - pine and grapefruit. Taste is more hops plus a little nut and caramel for balance. And this is well-balanced, its not an unmitigated hop bomb. Very drinkable and enjoyable. Being a hop head, I’d like to have just a little more bitterness in this beer, but that’s splitting hairs. Damn good.
