nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Feb 9, 2009 Nice one. Cloudy amber color with an off-white head that lasts. Aroma is mostly fresh piney hops (Cascade I’d guess), taste is more malty but also hits you with some hops on the finish. Very crisp and drinkable, hops taste very fresh. mcjay (301), Neenah, Wisconsin, USA Feb 9, 2009 2008 release. Slightly cloudy copper color with an amazingly foamy off white head that lasts until the glass is gone. Hops with a hint of pine on the nose. Flavor starts of very smooth and a little sweet but has a very dry finish. Strong on hops with a bit of a bite, slightly bitter with a mild hint of caramel malt. BrotherGrendel (551), San Diego (La Jolla), California, USA Feb 9, 2009 2007 Vintage (11th Edition), poured into a Duvel tulip glass
A- Pours a striking red/orange hue with limited visibility, head is three fingers of off-white creamy goodness with good retention, big thick lacing left all over the glass, wonderful!
S- Nose is (of course) full of oily, resinous, fresh hops that are complex and refreshing, citrus (grapefruit-heavy) and pine dominate the olfactories, some balancing bread and biscuit malts float in the background, freshness is dominant
T- Initial taste is dominated by a rising crescendo of fresh hops with a primarily grapefruit and pine taste profile, followed by some floral/herbal tones and spice, a touch of caramel and bready malts arrive in the midpoint, and the finish is subtle hop dryness with a hint of sweetness
M- Medium-bodied ale with oily and creamy texture, coats the tongue and mouth fully, lively carbonation
D- I am used to hoppy ales driving up the abv, but at just over 6% this is definitely a sessionable beer; a truly unique and complex Pale Ale dominated by fresh, delicious hop flavor that doesn’t trample over your senses unclegeorge (7), , Indiana, USA does not count Feb 8, 2009 Nice orange-brown color with a good tan head. Just the right amount of hops and a bit of bitterness. A nice consistency too. expatriatetobe (2), San Marcos, Texas, USA does not count Feb 8, 2009 My favorite beer ever. This is all I drink in Texas in the fall. So sad to see it disappear from the shelves when the season is over. rader58 (166), Leawood, Kansas, USA Feb 7, 2009 12th Release Harvest Wet Hop Ale - Pours a cloudy honey/amber color. head is full , tan and creamy. Aroma is floral, sweet. Taste is of light hops with slight bite. Has a creamy feel on the tongue. Finish has hint of sweetness. Very well balanced beer. killjoy966 (215), Washington, USA Jan 31, 2009 A lot of hops in this one, but it doesn’t taste super bitter. Looks pretty enough; doesn’t smell like much. Really had to stick my nose in it. The hops are soft and floral and I wish I knew what variety they are. Incredibly drinkable; maltier than the traditional pale ale. T2Tool (352), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Jan 31, 2009 Had on draft. Delivered with an amber appearance and a small white head. Pine hop aroma with sweet malt. Piney hops in the taste with a sweet caramel backbone. Nice balance in this beer. I’m going to have to pick up a six pack of this and see if it is just as good in the bottle.
