Floback (333), Naples, Florida, USA Dec 20, 2008 Bottle from Total Wine. Pours a brown/amber color with sticky lacing and 1.5 inches of tan head. The nose displays notes of citrusy hops and subtle sour yeast. Flavors embark with pine resin, sublte citrus and pear, biscuit, bread crumbs, grains, and a malty backbone. Solid balance of hops to malts. Medium carbonation and full body. A great example of an IPA. SHANER4 (370), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Dec 20, 2008 Updated: Mar 3, 2009On Tap - Poured a crimson color with large frothy head.
Aroma - Just like fresh harvested hops. Most wonderful scent a beer lover could imagine.
Flavor - Balance between malt and hops is fantastic.
Palate - Sticky hops and spicey sweet malt. A real joy to drink.
Overall - This is a top notch brew and I am surprised that this beer is not rated higher. I could taste the sticky hops on my lips far after I finished this tastey brew!!!! RERATE - 3/03/09 - Had a bottle of this beer and was not as good as the draft. This is still a great beer but crisp hopflavor is lost in bottling. grandet (477), Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 20, 2008 24oz bottle. 12th release. Poured a nice amber color with a big fluffy white head that lasted. Aroma is of fresh hops and mild malt. Taste is nice a fruity with lots of dry hop flavors throught out. Good one. mspindler (301), Alta Loma, California, USA Dec 20, 2008 22 oz. bottle shared with Duffman SW while homebrewing an all-Centennial IPA. Frothy, 2 finger cream colored head with excellent lacing. Hazy orange red with low carbonation. Very balanced, tame aroma of bready yeast, malt, and hops that carries over into the flavor. Hints of pine and clove. Medium to full body with a very soft pleasant carbonation. Good well balanced beer. hopheaven (83), Eureka, California, USA Dec 18, 2008 A freaking huge off-white head adorns a transparent reddish-amber body. The hoppy aroma is delicious, enticing, and potent. This is one of my favorite beers; the wet hops deliver a wholly unique flavor experience -- very earthy, spicy, piney, and candy-like with a smooth, mild bitterness. If intense hoppiness is your thing then do not miss this beer. My only real complaint is that it comes around but once a year. jeremytoni (1069), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Dec 18, 2008 From a bottle poured a amber/brown color with a good amount of head. Nice strong hoppy flavor with a lingering finish. danielcurtis81 (879), San Diego, California, USA Dec 15, 2008 Getting notebook online. Bottle, 11th edition, 2007. Pours amber with a red tint. Pretty good white head. Real good hop aromas, caramel too. Flavors follow the nose. Good dry finish. Ceebs25 (217), Naperville, Illinois, USA Dec 15, 2008 24 oz bottle, 12th release. Some earthy, some citrusy, some spicy, and some piny and resin notes on the highly hoppy aroma, with some minor caramel malt hidden in there a well, not too shabby. Great pour, rich off-white/cream bubbly, cloud-like head, very nice lacing, medium thick looking body, rusty orange in color. The overall flavor resembles the nose fairly closely, fresh tasting, good heavy bitter tongue smacking spicy hop combo in the finish and linger, a slightly thicker body than expected. This one had a bunch of good things going for it, and overall, just a good ol’, straight forward, hoppy Sierra Nevada ale.
