adavis234 (133), Columbia, South Carolina, USA Oct 25, 2008 2008 12th Release Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a thick, off-white head. Strong citrus and pine hop aroma, just as advertised. Pine flavor even more prevalent in the taste along with an understated bitterness. A unique and delicious brew. jpiper (6), Cleveland, Ohio, USA does not count Oct 25, 2008 A fairly hoppy IPA with a floral and citrus nose; there was malt on the palate and a piney hop flavor dominated. Good, but there are plenty better. changeup45 (782), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 25, 2008 2008 batch. Pours an amber color with a very nice thick off-white head. Lacing all the way down the glass. The aroma consists of hops and malts but it’s surprisingly more malty and grassy. The flavor starts off malty, quite a bit of bready-caramel malts here, followed by a fresh dose of greeny hops. Some bitterness to this but it’s not an aggressive bitterness and this beer drinks rather easily. Very solid. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA Oct 25, 2008 (Bottle. 2008 12th Release). Aroma intensely grapefruit. Reddish amber body, beautiful off-white head with intricate lacing. Flavor has plenty of grapefruit, but also balanced with slight caramel, leading to a lengthy subtle bitterness for a finish. This is a ’wow’ ale, different from the intense single-minded hop wallop of DFH, but on a similar level of enjoyment. Fantastic. joshwilfong (770), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Oct 25, 2008 light brown appeaance with large white head. hoppy nose. some caramel malt, but not as much a malt presence as I would desire. very nice hop flavor due the the wet hopping with a solid bitterness. a good version of the style, but not spectacula scoth (267), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Oct 25, 2008 Updated: Aug 8, 20092009 Bottle. Clear copper, medium beige head, fine and lasting lacing. Strong pine aroma, earthy, toffee and raisins. Medium body, velvety, smooth and dry. Bright, complex floral flavor, pine resin, some grapefruit, with a toffee undertone. Medium-strong bitter finish. Excellent price. jrmac (210), USA Oct 24, 2008 Not quite as good as the southern hemisphere version, but still extremely good. Pours a clear brown with three fingers of head. Smells of citrus, hops, floral, and malt. Flavor is incredibly balanced. I am going out tomorrow and pick up more.
