Capa (952), Yokosuka, Japan Feb 1, 2008 11th edition. Clear copper with a fluffy, white head. Strong hoppy aroma. Citrus, lemon, herbal, light caramel malts, pine, and some floral. Medium body with a dry finish. Pine, citrus, lemony, earth, light caramel malts, and some floral. Finish is long and real bitter. The malts do a nice job of giving depth to the powerful hops. I’ll be looking forward to this one again next year. yobdoog (1426), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Jan 31, 2008 07 Bottle. Big fluffy head. Appearance even looks oily and is confirmed when sipping. Creamy hops, pine and some citrus. Very floral, fragrant. Nice and sweet, full body and caramel sweetness to balance out the hops. biggmike (480), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA Jan 31, 2008 Poured a nice dark orange/copper color with nice generous white head that lasted quite a while and left nice lacing on the glass. Open the bottle and you immediately are treated to the nice hoppy aroma of this beer. Flavor is also hoppy with hints of citrus and grass. The maltiness balances the beer nicely. The mouthfeel is good and I could drink a lot of these. Great beer.
Magicdave6 (5400), London, Greater London, England Jan 29, 2008 Bottle ad a massive huge thanks go out to miketd. Im soo lost for words here, i was verging on another 5 with this, i had to comepletly rerate it 3 times to make sre i wasnt twister and all 3 rating are very different, however all come to the same mind blowing conculsion that this is one of the finest bers in the world. Rich hop resins the the aroma, peppery lychee, citrus, pink grapefruit. Taste is rich malts, perfectly balanced with the hops. Id take a wild guess and say this is infact the exact same beer as the celebration however with fresher hops. I just love this, its amazing its soo drinkable and soo morish id really be a happy man if i could just have some of this every week even just a glass and no other beer. Outstanding and world class. doubleo (1096), San Diego, California, USA Jan 25, 2008 24oz bottle. Pours a deep golden brown color with a nice frothy white head that laces the glass as it recedes. Smells just plain grassy to me. Tastes grassy as well, not as complex of flavors as I have gotten in some other recent fresh hop brews. Mothfeel is bitter, good carbonation. Thinnish but seemingly full-bodied with the bitterness. BigBen2120 (688), Derry, New Hampshire, USA Jan 24, 2008 24oz bottle bought at Lou’s in Augusta. Pours slightly hazy amber-red with a thin quickly disappearing off-white head. Smells amazing - pine, citrus, floral, herbal, mint... Hoppiest smelling beer I’ve ever had. Tastes similar to the armoa. Mint, pine, floral, citrus bitterness shining bright on this one with just enough malt to keep this one from being one-dimensional. Surprisingly clean finish. Medium mouth feel, making for a rich-feeling palate without being chewy or viscous. Medium carbonation is just enough to keep things clean and make this one a really easy drinker despite the big flavor and abv. Wow. A hop-head’s dream. This is perhaps the finest use of American hops in a beer I have ever tasted. I would drink this morning noon and night everyday but I’d probably feel spoiled. 45thstbrewer (94), Conowingo, Maryland, USA Jan 23, 2008 Sierra Nevada’s Harvest Fresh Hop Ale is an excellent brew. I grabbed the last bottle at the store and wish there was more mkgrenwel (420), Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA Jan 21, 2008 Light sticky piney resin. A bit peppery and earthy in the finish. Crystal malt standing against moderate bitterness in the back. I’m definitely not getting any kind of wet hop flavor, this just tastes like a straight IPA, even a bit of an English IPA over the west coast American variety. Decent, but not my favorite IPA.
