cking (1012), North Canton, Ohio, USA Jan 7, 2008 24 oz. bottle, 11th edition of this yearly brew. Recently stocked at one of the local shops so this is as fresh as I will be able to sample this one. Very nice smooth hop aroma, mostly citrus and sticky pine. Gorgeous orange-copper color with a thick settling head and ample lacing. Thick body with an exceptionally filling creaminess. This is so creamy and smooth, with a pleasant bitter aftertaste. Big American hop flavor backed by a thick malt content. A "big" IPA that is rather well balanced. Not overly bitter, I really like the hearty malts that pull through. All in all a great IPA, best part is that the bottle is 24 oz so you get a couple more than the average bomber. No complaints here. thehinge (244), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Jan 6, 2008 Aroma has hints of fruit and hops. Orange pour with a cream colored head.....laces pretty well. Nice hop bite to it. A little too bitter for my liking, but is very good. Recommend it to any hop head. mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 5, 2008 [835-20071115] 24floz (c/o DuctTape, w/ him, jerc). Grapefruit pip citrus hops aroma. Clear, medium brown amber body with a long-lasting creamy white head and interesting lacing. Bitter grapefruit hops flavour also has hints of fresh grainy bread. Medium body is pretty rough with a bitter finish. Bitterness and citrus are nicely balanced. STEPHENDR (478), California, USA Jan 5, 2008 22 oz. glass bottle- color of amber, with a frothy off white colored head - nose of nice hops, fresh and light malts– taste of nice fresh hops, light malts, and resin- body is medium , and with medium carbonation – aftertaste of grape fruit, resin, bitter, and semi-dirty MadMan (497), Tempe, Arizona, USA Jan 4, 2008 Bottle (2007 11th edition). Pours a darker amber with fine off white head. Aroma is sweet, earthy, and full of green plants (a multitude of plants not just the usual grass, pine, tree...etc.). Truly a fantastic smelling brew with an aroma unlike any I’ve tried yet. Flavor is somewhat sweet and caramelly and certainly bitter. Hints of grapefruit, citrus, and a fair amount of woodiness. Finish is long, dry, bitter, and earthy. Mouthfeel is light and fairly fizzy. I’d say this qualifies as my favorite SN offering. SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Jan 1, 2008 24oz bottle. Clear orange-amber with a sticky off-white head. Aroma of earthy hops, spicy, and floral, some grapefruit and ocean mist; the fresh hops are quite distinctive and stand out from the rest of the SN line. Flavor has caramel, fresh earthy hops and some orange, Finishes with a balanced bitterness with some citrus. Medium body with smooth carbonation. Nice balance overall, and not overly bitter, the fresh hops impart a unique flavor that is quite nice. More interesting than their other IPAs. RCL (1443), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA Dec 31, 2007 Tons of pine and fruit in the nose and the flavor. Nicely balanced for the hop bomb it is. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA Dec 30, 2007 Poured with a medium to large cream colored head. Unlike the picture my bottle poured a clear amber color, sadly. Aroma was familiar, perhaps like the Brooklyn Brown I just had although this one was mainly citrus with a touch of musty fuggles. Still a very inviting aroma. Body was medium with the hop resins clinging to my tongue leaving a strong aftertaste. A grassy taste, mildly plastic and a slight sweetness at the end. I would like to try the unfiltered version of this.
