redlem (1155), Illinois, USA Dec 30, 2007 Poured with a medium to large cream colored head. Unlike the picture my bottle poured a clear amber color, sadly. Aroma was familiar, perhaps like the Brooklyn Brown I just had although this one was mainly citrus with a touch of musty fuggles. Still a very inviting aroma. Body was medium with the hop resins clinging to my tongue leaving a strong aftertaste. A grassy taste, mildly plastic and a slight sweetness at the end. I would like to try the unfiltered version of this. ReademNwheat (174), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 29, 2007 had this on draft. Dark amber color with little to no head. Floral hops in the aroma. More hops in the first sip. Great hoppy taste not too strong. Alittle malt to balance things out. Overall another good seasonal from SN. JoeinUccle (902), Brussels, Belgium Dec 27, 2007 A florally aromatic pale ale with real bitterness that maintains a nice flavor. Bottle pours a hazy, dark amber with a decently lasting off-white head. Earthy and flowery hop nose. Flavor keeps an earthy hop bitterness with a lightly sweet, malty edge to deepen the flavor and keep balance. Despite fresh hops in recipe, the taste and feel came across as "aged" and "dry," which I thought was interesting. Fairly mellow, considering. Not a bad thing! Reasonable carbonation. Pretty enjoyable. Erdinger2003 (127), Ames, Iowa, USA Dec 27, 2007 Pours a very big head that retains very well. Color is golden brown and clear. Lacing is very strong. Smell is a big aromatic fruity hop flavor. The flavor wasn’t as bitter as a normal IPA. blklab2007 (943), Connecticut, USA Dec 26, 2007 Updated: Dec 12, 2008bomber poured with huge carbination out of the bottle and a thick white foam that melted down the glass leaving a huge pillow of froth on the surface. color is medium amber and has a smell that jumps out as soon as it is poured, typical sierra hops, sweet fruit, caramel malt, pine, and some sweet honey like floral. taste is along the nose, medium full mouth feel, nice caramel malt mid becoming bold hop, finishing with some nice bitter and hop resins. a little more fruit and sweetness than the usual sierra and also not as dry. really a nicely balanced brew, alcohol is just right, and the price is not too over the top either.
hopslovin (180), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Dec 25, 2007 Golden amber pour with off-white head. Nice continuous cascade of bubbles. Pine aromas. Pine and caramel in the flavor. Bitter throughout. Medium mouthfeel. Bitter crisp finish. Nice. BlackForestCO (819), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Dec 23, 2007 Updated: Feb 18, 2009Poured from a bomber. Poured a clear, deep golden color with a thick, soapy white head that left awesome lacing. Aroma of resinous, piney hops. Flavor is pretty much dominated by hops, but what do you expect from a fresh hop beer? It is still nice, with a big piney, resinous taste to match the aroma. The hops bite the tongue and just beg to be drank. It was missing the citrus hit that made Founders Harvest so awesome, but it was still solid. franksnbeans (265), Columbus, Maryland, USA Dec 23, 2007 Pours a clear copper with orange hue with a couple fingers of off white head that dies slow and laces big. Smells of big juicy citrus hops and little sweet malt. Taste is huge on hops but not overpowering and not bittering at all. Citrus, rind but nothing to fry my palate, yum. Malty balance shows but the hops do dominate yet dont pack a big punch. Medium in the mouth with a tickle of carbonation. Rediculous drikability. APA eh? I consider this one of the best in show if that the case. Well worth the try.
