DrBayern (935), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Jun 17, 2008 24 oz. bottle on 06/17/08. Clear, brilliant burnt orange body under a frothy, light beige, lasting head leaving a wispy lace. Fine hoppy aroma of pine and citrus, background notes of spice and toffee. Medium body and carbonation, a mildy resinous character that complements the dry palate.
Good balance of flavors with a solid caramel sweetness and assertive, yet not overly bold, spicy hop bitterness. Kudos to SN, they still brew some really fine beers. For the price (I paid $5.00) this is a great value, and can hold its own against the better IPAs and APA’s out there.
daknole (683), Plantation, Florida, USA Aug 24, 2008 Good IPA for something mass produced. Copper pour with a nice head. Aroma is pure citrus with maybe a slight hint of bread. Taste is a hop party with malts crasing the bitter party at the end. Well done. mephisto (1098), Taiwan Aug 18, 2008 cloudy yellow with off white head, it has a bready aroma with the signature grapefruit accent. the flavor is wonderfully floral and malty, well balanced. Bov (4623), Bienne, Switzerland Aug 14, 2008 courtesy of Toni Flükiger - clear amber colour with a solid beige head; powerful nose, very hoppy, resiney aroma, cream and flowers; oily and with a good malt body; very dry and very bitter flowery hoppy finish - hops, hops and more hops euserphriendly (159), Holland, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 6, 2008 Fresh Hops! This is really a hop lovers beer. The hops are fresh but not overdone. Good malt backbone. I look forward to having this one again. ehhdayton (1084), USA Aug 6, 2008 Had the 1997 brew. Pours a golden copperish with a nice white head. Aroma has a combination of grapefruit and pine. The hop flavor is clear but not overpowering. Flavors of citrus, pine, and some caramel malt comes through. Slight hint of bitterness at the finish but again is not overly pronounced.
