Commercial Description:
Our Harvest Ale was the first American beer ever brewed with 100% fresh picked, "wet hops." In just one day, we harvest hops in Yakima, WA, ship them that night to our brewery in Chico, CA, and then rush them into the brew kettle as they are unloaded at dawn the next day.

This extraordinary effort creates a beer with unmatched aromatics of pine and citrus with layers of spicey sweet notes that hop fanatic like us dream of all year. Enjoy!

Excellent IPA. Good, fresh hops flavor with a wonderful nose. Pours with a small head. Mine was from a bottle labeled 2008 harvest .

Quite an excellent brew. Sampled out of the big bottle and it had an amazing taste. Usually the pale ale can get a little skunky but this one is fresh and tastes like it was just made. A very well crafted ale with stong hoppy flavors and sweet malts. Certainly worth a try.

Bottle. 24 fl. oz. 2007. 11th Edition. A clear, amber color with a smooth, creamy, white head. Dank, hoppy aroma. Flavor is also very hoppy but is balanced out nicely by caramel maltiness. One of the more hoppy beers I have had. I just can’t get enough. Very good beer.

24oz Bottle $4.99 Binny’s Orland Sierra Nevada’s Harvest Ale poured a crystal clear copper with moderate carbonation slowly creeps to the surface. A two finger extremely creamy and sticky white head formed on the pour. It was strange but the pour almost created a cascade effect, short lived but cool. Leaves big clumpy lacing. At first the aroma has a tough time fighting through the incredibly creamy head. When it subsides I get a little better idea of what I’m in for. Up front comes dripping pine sap with a squeeze of unsweetened grapefruit and lingering hop resin. After some warming a solid caramel backbone comes through to even things out a bit. Smooth caramel malt lays a perfect canvas for the true showcase of this beer, the hops. Fresh vibrant hops come across the palate creating a variety of flavors None overpowering the last and all in perfect harmony. Unsweetened grapefruit is swept aside by sweetened grapefruit and orange. The resiny somewhat leathery hops come through toward the middle easing out the citrus and leading into a lingering pine sap finish. An excellent fresh hopped pale ale. Medium bodied with a moderate carbonation that keeps things lively without running its course too quick. Bitterness wasn’t much at first but piles on itself sip after sip. I can’t hardly drink this beer fast enough. It’s sip after sip without a problem. If I’m not careful it will be gulp after gulp. After reading reviews on Harvest Ale in the past I always hoped it would be bottled. Finally, the time is here. It’s too bad a brew like this can’t be produced all year because I would buy it by the case. 10/9/07

Pours a nice darker amber with an off-white head. Strong hop aroma, dominated by Cascade hops. Off to a good start already. The flavour is very hoppy, and that’s an understatement. Citrusy hop flavour just dominates over everything else in this brew. Yet the hops aren’t being used to hide a less than stellar malt. The malt has some sweetness to it, and is rather bisquity, and makes for a great backing to the bitterness of the hops. It finishes bitter, as expected, with some of the malt coming through for a short bit and then the bitterness lingers. Mouthfeel is quite good, with just the right amount of carbonatio, although it is a little slick feeling. There’s no question that you have to love hops to be able to enjoy this beer. But it’s not an all-hop beer, it has substance all the way through. This is simply an excellent beer and I’m very happy to have picked up a bottle of it.

This was a wonderful beer shared amoung friends in Green Bay. There was a fall freshness in the aroma that was unlike other beers. I hope I can get back to the store and there is some left. To boot, the 24 oz. bottle is great too.

Pours a burnt sienna/orange color with a puffy white head that lasts. the second you open the bottle your nose gets overwhelmed by crisp, clean, fresh hops. So enticing. The flavor is of citrus fruit and hops with a slightly malty finish. Very very bitter beer up front, but its just how I like them. This is one of the better IPAs I’ve had.
