Poured a dark brown with a beige head. Aroma was of dark chocolate and earthy hops. Flavor similar, got amount of heat but not really any pepper flavor, and hops that shouldn’t be there.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep brown, almost black color, pouring with a bice , thick head. The aroma is mild chicolate. The flavor is spicy, peppery roasted chilli mostly. I like it. Very smooth palate. Sticky, dirty, thin lace.

On draft at Bigelo’s. Black. Served in a 12 ounce snifter. This is nicely balanced between chocolate, chilis, earth, and roast. A big, flavorful beer that drinks lighter. Good stuff.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep black with an attractive, resilient mocha foam. Browned banana, chocolate soaked, carrying a bothersome bathroom-like alcohol component. Heavy levels of meat char help to suffocate this with time. Vegetal heat is there in staccato bursts, never very loud. The flavor is balanced and soft. More milk chocolate, some citrusy light roast coffee, and touches of delicate raspberries. Texturally plush, no hint of alcohol, perfect smooth carbonation, velvety is the right word. Some slow suggestive chili heat at the very end, just as an amusement, drying and drinkable. The aroma might be lacking, but this is how a world-class, trustworthy old school brewery makes a huge, adjunct augmented stout.
