Intriguing nose of subtle hops with a very dirty brown pour, complex and deep hoppy taste with a slowly lingering mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Critique chaotique du extreme beer fest 2013): Très puissante arome abbatue par une très faible saveur.

Pouring at the Saturday sessions of Extreme Beerfest. Pours a clear amber with a thin white head. Big clear icy citrus on the nose, pine. Medium bodied, big earthy spicy hops, thin malt backbone. Needs a little more oomph. Very easy drinking, soft grapefruit into the finish.

On tap at EBF 3/16/13. Citrus resin and pine with a light bready malt to provide some backbone. Solid Ipa that I would buy the hell out of if it were sold in six packs.

Appearance: Pours a clear copper with a fluffy beige head that slowly subsides.

Aroma: Piney and grapefruit hop nose. Classic Sierra nevada nose. I’m sure I could pick it out in a blind smelling.

Taste: Bright citrus hops, bitter piney cascade-like hops, fairly dry toasted malt. Medium duration.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied average carb.

Overall: Not a knock on the beer, but so very similar to the Estate series beers, I couldn’t discern this beer from those beers. Very delicious, great hop character without being a hop bomb.

Sampled at EBF. Pours a clear, copper amber with some creamy, white head. Nose is nice, citrus, pine, malt, musty, floral. Flavor is well balanced, sweet, spicy, citrus, floral, malt, lemon, orange zest. Medium bodied, dry finish. Easy drinker.

On tap at Capitol Beer, Sacramento. Pours copper with a thick off-white head and a floral aroma. There is a medium-bodied toffee flavor with a smoothly hoppy finish.

On tap at capitol beer and taproom. Pours apple juice with white head. Taste is like a hopped up sierra Nevada. After taste is cloves.

5 ounce sample on tap at Rubicon. Citrus hop aromas are present with some grapefruit and light mango. Light spiciness is also present. Decent aroma. Transparent copper body with a medium off-white head and good lacing. Starts with some sweet caramel character with a very restrained floral hop flavor in the middle. Finishes with a light, herbal hop bitterness. Decent, but nothing overly memorable for me.

Bottle from the brewery. Capped 750. Pours clear copper with a 3 finger creamy off-white head. Aroma is floral/perfume/pepper. Near full bodied. Flavor is mild roast caramel with pepper/spice hot bits, reminds of curry even, with some pine and floral. Then it gets a strong citrus note. And it’s fruity in a tropical way too. Strong flavors overall, but I’m not sure I’m teasing the pieces out correctly. Very tasty stuff tho. It’s hoppy as all getout, but it’s more smooth than harsh. Get it soon - likely it will be one of the vault beers.
